The DataMind Oda card on Universe describes Oda as "Your AI work agent on Windows and in Excel. It works with your Minds, data and files." The card gives you two downloads: the Windows app and the Excel add-in. Use this page to get the right one, and to find out why a download button is disabled. For what Oda does, see DataMind Oda.
The card has two views, and it opens in the Windows view. Switch views with the two logo buttons at the top of the card. Hover over a logo to see its name, DataMind Oda for Windows or DataMind Oda for Excel.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Platform switch | Shows the Windows view or the Excel view of the card. | Windows |
| Version and size badges | Show the version and installer size. They appear only in the Windows view, and only when the installer is available. | Shown when available |
If Windows SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app, click More info, then Run anyway. The card shows this hint under the steps. The full install and sign-in steps are in Install DataMind Oda.
Oda appears in Excel for everyone your administrator assigns it to. It can take up to a day to show up in Excel on your computer.
Oda in Excel runs in Excel in Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 and later on Windows, in Excel for Mac with Safari 17.4 or later, and in Excel on the web. Office 2016 and Office 2019 cannot load it. For using it, see Oda in Excel.
If you only need to query your data from Excel, you do not need the add-in. Connect Excel to DataMind OS with a data connection file instead.
Both views always show on the card, for every user. Your permissions decide whether the download buttons work. An administrator gives these permissions in a role.
| Permission | What it unlocks |
|---|---|
| Use DataMind Oda | Download for Windows. It is also needed for Download Oda for Excel. |
| Use DataMind Oda in Excel | Download Oda for Excel. It works only together with Use DataMind Oda. |
To ask your Minds from Excel, the account also needs Use Minds from DataMind Oda; the DataMind Oda in Excel set gives all three. To change these permissions, see Roles and permissions.
When the card knows the reason before you click, it shows it in place of the steps, and in the Windows view in place of Your DataMind URL too. It also disables the download button.
The card offers only Windows and Excel. For the messages you may see after a click, see Troubleshooting Universe.
The card shows the reason above the button. Either your account does not have Use DataMind Oda, or your DataMind OS has no Oda installer yet. In both cases, ask your administrator.
The Excel add-in needs a second permission, Use DataMind Oda in Excel. Ask your administrator to add it to your role.
Send it to your Microsoft 365 administrator. They upload it in the Microsoft 365 admin center under Settings > Integrated apps > Upload custom apps. You do not upload it yourself.
Not from this card. Its steps send the file to your Microsoft 365 administrator, who uploads it and assigns Oda to the people who should use it.
It can take up to a day to show up in Excel on your computer. Look for DataMind Oda on the Home tab. If it still does not appear, ask your administrator to check that Oda is assigned to your account.
No. The file points Excel at the DataMind OS you downloaded it from, and Oda asks you to sign in with your DataMind account. A colleague at another company needs the file from their own DataMind OS.
It is the address of the DataMind OS you have open in your browser, without any page path. The card shows it under Your DataMind URL. Use the copy button next to it to copy the address.
The card includes this hint for that case: if Windows SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app, click More info, then Run anyway. The full steps are in Install DataMind Oda.
The version badge in the Windows view shows the version your DataMind OS offers. The size badge shows the size of the installer. Both appear only when the installer is available.
