A Mind is an AI agent you chat with about your data and the platform. Read this page to choose the right kind of Mind, find your way around the Minds screens and check what your permissions let you do. For a guided first question, follow Ask a Mind about your data.
| Kind | What it does |
|---|---|
| Analytical Mind | Answers questions over the tables you link on its Sources tab. |
| Warehouse Builder | Builds facts, dimensions, views and transformations for you. It sees every Lake and Warehouse table. |
| Lake Builder | Imports source tables into the Lake and manages connectors, syncs and load settings for you. It sees every Lake and Warehouse table. |
Warehouse Builder and Lake Builder Minds are owned by the admin role. Read Warehouse Builder and Lake Builder before you rely on one.
A new Mind uses Kartlos Premium as its default model. To create one, follow Create a Mind.
Use the left panel to move between the areas of Minds; The Minds workspace describes the layout and the panels.
| Area | What it holds | Read more |

Open the Minds area to see the list of Minds you can reach.
For the full tour, including how to open a Mind and what its details show, see Find and open a Mind.
A Mind's details panel has five tabs. Open a Mind, then pick a tab. Each tab has its own guide:
| Tab | What it holds | Read more |
|---|---|---|
| Settings | The Mind's name, description, tags and status, its responsible person, query identity, permission groups, colour and icon. | Mind settings |
| AI Config | The models the Mind offers, its default model, execution and memory limits, and feature settings such as web search, context management and swarm. | Choose models and AI behaviour |
| Sources | The Lake and Warehouse tables the Mind may use. | Link data to a Mind |
| Training Hub | The training cards that guide the Mind's answers. | Train a Mind with training cards |
| Benchmarks | Question sets and experiments that compare models, thinking effort and response modes on the Mind. | Test a Mind with benchmarks |
On a Warehouse Builder or Lake Builder Mind, Sources and Benchmarks are greyed out, and their tooltips explain why: "This Mind sees every Lake and Warehouse table; no sources need to be linked." for a Warehouse Builder, "This Mind sees every Lake table; no sources need to be linked." for a Lake Builder, and "Benchmarks are for analytical Minds."
If you switch tabs while you have unsaved changes, DataMind OS asks Discard unsaved changes?. Choose Stay on this tab to keep your edits, or Discard changes to drop them.
| Permission | What it lets you do |
|---|---|
| View Minds | Open the Minds screens and chat with the Minds you can reach. |
| Add Mind | Create a Mind. |
| Edit Mind | Change a Mind and open its Benchmarks tab. |
| Delete Mind | Delete a Mind. |
| View Training Cards | Open a Mind's Training Hub. |
If you have View Training Cards but not Edit Mind, you see only the Training Hub tab of each Mind.
Administrators and users in a Mind's owner role can always open it. Access to the builder kinds works differently:
For the full list, see Who can do what with Minds.
Create an Analytical Mind. It answers over the tables you link on its Sources tab.
You need View Minds. Ask your administrator to grant it. See Who can do what with Minds.
Opening a chat needs View Minds and the chat permissions your role gives you. The Minds entry in the left panel appears only if you also have Add Mind, Edit Mind, Delete Mind or View Training Cards.
Bookmarks are stored in the browser where you set them, not in your account. Bookmark the Minds again on each computer you use. Clearing the site data of that browser also removes them.
Yes. On a phone, DataMind OS opens as Minds, and links to other pages open Minds instead. The Sources, Training Hub and Benchmarks tabs are available on a desktop screen only. See DataMind OS on your phone.
They show a Mind's Status, which you set on its Settings tab: None, Testing, Pre-release or Production. The badge tells people how ready the Mind is. A Mind with the status None shows no badge. See Mind settings.
You have View Training Cards but not Edit Mind. The Settings, AI Config, Sources and Benchmarks tabs stay hidden for you.
No. The AI assistant is a separate helper that sits beside the screen it works on, keeps its own conversations and does not appear in the Minds list. See The AI assistant.
