Sign in to Oda

DataMind Oda signs in to your company's DataMind server with your DataMind OS account. You sign in once, in your browser, and Oda keeps the sign-in on your computer. This page covers the first sign-in, the pages your browser shows, and what each message means. If you have not installed Oda yet, start with Install and sign in.

Sign in for the first time

  1. Open DataMind Oda. On the welcome screen, click Get started.
  2. On the Enter your DataMind URL screen, enter your DataMind URL and click Continue. Oda shows Signing in to DataMind… while it connects. The address is the one you open DataMind with in your browser, the one you copied from the DataMind Oda card in Universe; ask your administrator if you are not sure.
    • An address typed without https:// gets it, and spaces at the start and end are removed.
    • If you paste a longer link, Oda keeps only the server part: a path, a query or a fragment after it is dropped, and a port is kept.
    • A blank address is refused with Enter your DataMind URL.; an address Oda cannot read, one with a user name or password inside it, or anything that is not an http or https address is refused with Enter a valid address, for example https://datamind.example.com.
    • While Oda signs in, the field and Continue are disabled; editing the address clears the last message. Back returns to the welcome screen.
    • If your address starts with http://, Oda shows This connection is not encrypted before it connects: your sign-in and your work would travel over the network without encryption. Continue with Continue without encryption only on a network you trust, and ask your administrator for an https:// address.
  3. Oda shows Continue in your browser and opens your company's sign-in page in your browser. Sign in there as usual. When the page says You're signed in to DataMind Oda. and You can close this tab., return to Oda: it opens, ready for your first task.

While Oda waits for your browser:

What the browser shows when the sign-in ends

The pages that finish the sign-in are plain: they show the text and nothing to click. One of three messages appears.

If the sign-in does not go through

The address is refused

Oda cannot connect to the server

The sign-in does not finish

If Oda signs you out

Oda asks you to sign in again when you signed out, you changed server, the sign-in expired, or your access was removed. When the sign-in expired, the welcome shows Your DataMind sign-in has ended. Sign in again to continue. Sign in again the same way as the first time; your chats stay on your computer. To sign out yourself, or to point Oda at another server, use Log out and Change server in Settings > DataMind account; Updates and troubleshooting covers them, and Signing in and staying signed in explains how Oda keeps the sign-in alive between visits.

Questions, answered

What address do I enter?

The DataMind URL from the DataMind Oda card in Universe: the address you open DataMind with in your browser, for example https://datamind.example.com. If you are not sure, ask your administrator.

Do I need to shorten a link I copied?

No. Oda reads the address for you: an address without https:// gets it, spaces are removed, and a path, a query or a fragment after the server name is dropped. A port in the address is kept.

How long does Oda wait for the browser?

Up to 10 minutes, and Oda keeps your computer awake while it waits so the sign-in can finish. If the wait ends before the browser finishes, start again from Continue.

Can I stop a sign-in that is waiting?

Yes. Click Cancel in Oda. Oda returns to the address screen, keeps the address you typed, and shows Sign-in was cancelled. Continue to try again. Start again when you are ready.

What does Your account does not have access to DataMind Oda. Ask your administrator. mean?

Your account is missing the Use DataMind Oda permission; ask your administrator for it. When the sign-in is refused for this reason, the browser page shows the same message with You can close this tab. added. Updates and troubleshooting lists the other access messages.

Oda says the server does not support this version of DataMind Oda. What do I do?

This version of Oda cannot sign in to that server; ask your administrator. When your server needs a newer Oda, Oda usually opens the Update required screen instead, where Update now updates without signing you out. See Update DataMind Oda.

Where do I type my DataMind password?

In your browser, on your company's sign-in page. Oda asks only for your server address; it never asks for your DataMind password itself.

Why does the sign-in page in my browser say Not found?

That page works only while a sign-in is waiting on your computer. If it is opened again later, it answers Not found. Start the sign-in again from Oda with Continue if you still need to sign in.
