The data grid appears across DataMind OS, including the results of a query in the Editor. Use its column controls to choose which columns you see, move them into the order you want, change their widths and fit them to their content.
You can also hide one column from its header: open the column menu at the right of the header and click Hide column. The same menu sorts, filters and copies the column name; see Filter, sort and search.
The panel lists only the columns you can hide. A column you have hidden still appears in the list, unticked, so you can bring it back. Helper columns at the left edge of the grid, such as the selection checkbox, cannot be hidden, so they are not listed and keep their place. What you hide stays out of copies and out of a download of the loaded rows; see Export and copy.
If the grid has helper columns at its left edge, they stay at the left; your order applies to the other columns.
Click the reset button in the panel header, which is labelled Reset to default. It restores the default visibility of every column and clears the order you set.
Column widths are not affected. To return widths to their defaults, use the auto-fit button described below.
Resizing a column never sorts the table, even though a click on the header does. A column stops at its minimum width, and if the columns together are wider than the grid, the grid scrolls sideways instead of squeezing them further.
There is no box for typing an exact width. Drag the edge, or fit the column to its content instead.
Fitting keeps each column between its minimum and maximum width, so a very long value widens its column only up to that limit.
The panel reminds you to use Ctrl+F12 to find columns faster. The box that opens jumps to a column by name, and a hidden column is shown again first. The full steps are in The data grid.
In Editor results, the layout belongs to the console. Each console keeps its own column order, widths and hidden columns, so the same result can appear with a different layout in another console. The layout is kept in your browser, and the grid forgets it about two hours after your last change to it; after that it starts from the default columns. When you come back to a console, it opens on the first page of rows: the row page you were on is not restored.
The layout is not saved to your account. Another browser, or a private window, starts from the default columns.
Messages about columns and the rest of the grid are collected in Editor troubleshooting.
The panel shows only the columns you can hide. Helper columns at the left edge of the grid, such as the selection checkbox, cannot be hidden, so they are not listed and keep their place.
Open Toggle column visibility and tick the column. You can also press Ctrl+F12 and pick it by name; a hidden column is shown again first. Reset to default brings back the columns the grid starts with.
The default visibility of every column, and it clears the order you set. Column widths are not touched. To reset widths, use the auto-fit button: one click fits the columns, and a second click restores the default widths.
No. A drag on the edge of a header only changes the width; it never triggers the sort that a click on the header would.
Double-click the edge of its header. The column takes the width of its content, and the other columns stay as they are.
Click the same button again, once its tooltip reads Reset column widths to defaults. The default widths come back.
Columns keep a minimum width so they stay readable. When the columns together are wider than the grid, the grid scrolls sideways rather than squeezing them further.
No. You resize a column by dragging the edge of its header, or fit it to its content with a double-click.
In Editor results, the layout is kept in your browser and forgotten about two hours after your last change to it. Set the columns up again; the next changes are kept the same way.
No. The row page is not restored; the grid opens on the first page of rows.
