Relentless

Relentless is one of the modes you can choose for a task. It comes with DataMind Oda and is for long, unattended work: give Oda the task once, and it keeps going in your chat until the work is done or it needs a real decision from you.

What Relentless is for

The mode's description in the picker reads: Works for hours until it is done, blocked, or needs a real decision. Best in Full access.

When Relentless stops

Each goal is capped at 300 rounds and 72 hours. A goal that reaches either cap stops as blocked and waits for you; it does not continue on its own (Goals).

Best in Full access

Relentless works best in Full access, where approval prompts do not interrupt the run. It is a recommendation, not a requirement: a Relentless chat runs in whatever access mode it has, and choosing the mode never changes it. Set the access mode separately for a run you want left alone (Permission presets). The mode still stops at the points above, whatever the access mode is.

Questions, answered

When should I choose Relentless instead of Standard mode?

Relentless is for long, unattended work: a task big enough to run for hours, where you would rather step away and come back to a result. For everything else, the default Standard mode is the usual choice (Standard mode).

How does Relentless keep working without me?

Oda turns your request into a goal and works it in automatic rounds: each round is a turn, and when one ends Oda starts the next on its own, without a new message from you. It does not stop to ask whether to continue.

How long can a Relentless run last?

Each goal is capped at 300 rounds and 72 hours. Within those limits a run can work for hours on its own; when it reaches a cap, the goal stops as blocked and waits for you.

Why did my Relentless task stop early?

The run hit one of three stopping points: a wall (the same blocker survived three genuinely different approaches, or a missing resource blocks everything that is left), a decision only you can make (Oda stops and asks you), or a cap (each goal is capped at 300 rounds and 72 hours). In each case the goal stops as blocked and waits for you until you continue it (Goals).

Does Relentless need Full access?

No, it is a recommendation. The chat runs in whatever access mode it has; it gets further in Full access, where approval prompts do not interrupt the run. Choosing the mode never changes the chat's access mode (Permission presets).

Can a scheduled task run in Relentless?

Yes. A scheduled task chooses its own mode on the task's form, so one task can run in Relentless while your chats use another mode; every run of it then works this way (Schedule recurring tasks).

Where do I read the Relentless guide?

Open it from the Relentless card in Settings > Agent presets: Mode details explains the mode, and How to use has example tasks. Reading the guide changes nothing about your chats.

Can I follow the run while it works?

Yes. The goal's pill beside the message box shows the rounds it has run and how long it has been going, and its card in Activity follows the run; you can pause or resume the goal from there (Goals).
