Standard mode

Standard mode is DataMind Oda's default mode: new tasks start in it when no mode is picked. The mode's description in the picker reads: Work with code, files, and information. Suitable for most tasks, with search, editing, terminal commands, and other tools available as needed.

What it can do

Standard mode includes the everyday capabilities:

The names are the ones the preset editor uses for these capabilities. You can switch capabilities on and off in a preset you create yourself; Create and edit agent presets covers that.

When to choose it

You pick a mode when you start a task; Choose a mode for a new task covers the picker, and Agent modes lists every mode with its guide.

Open the mode guide

Each of the five modes that come with DataMind Oda has a short guide. Open Settings > Agent presets and use the menu on the Standard mode card (Actions for Standard mode).

Questions, answered

Which mode do new tasks start in by default?

Standard mode. When no mode is picked, a new task uses the application default preset, and Standard mode is that default. To start a task in another mode, pick it while the chat is still blank; Choose a mode for a new task covers the picker.

Is Standard mode enough for most tasks?

Yes. It suits most tasks and is the safe place to start, from everyday code and file work to research. It can also write scripts and process files in batches; you do not need PTC mode for that.

What can Standard mode do?

It runs the full everyday set: reading and editing files, search, terminal commands and background jobs, skills, plan mode, goals and a to-do list, subagents and workflows, questions and web search, project instructions, and showing you the files it delivers.

Where can I read more about Standard mode?

Open Settings > Agent presets and use the menu on the Standard mode card (Actions for Standard mode): Mode details explains how it works and when to choose it, and How to use shows example tasks with a Copy button. Opening the guide changes nothing about your chats.

How do I go back to Standard mode?

Pick it for a single task while the chat is still blank (Choose a mode for a new task), or make it the default for new tasks again: in Settings > Agent presets, click Set as new task default on the Standard mode card. If Choose a mode for new tasks is off, turn it on first (Agent modes covers that setting).

Can I make my own version of Standard mode?

Yes, by duplicating it. Standard mode itself comes with DataMind Oda and cannot be changed: Built-in and installed presets cannot be changed. Duplicate the preset and edit the copy. The copy is yours to edit; Create and edit agent presets covers the editor.
