PTC mode is one of the modes you can choose for a task. It comes with DataMind Oda and is for data-heavy work: tasks that call tools in batches and then filter, organise, deduplicate, count or summarise the results.
The mode's description in the picker reads: Includes all Standard mode capabilities. Better suited to tasks that call tools in batches and then filter, organize, deduplicate, count, or summarize the results.
PTC means Programmatic Tool Calling. In this built-in preset, Oda uses run_code to write a program that calls tools through a generated SDK. The tool calls come from inside the program, in batches, so a task that needs many of them gets fewer back-and-forth steps, and the results are there to filter, organise, deduplicate, count or summarise.

For the fuller explanation and example tasks, open the Mode details / How to use guide from the mode's card in Settings > Agent presets.

Open it from the PTC mode card in Settings > Agent presets: choose Mode details for the explanation, or How to use for example tasks you can copy with the Copy button. Reading the guide changes nothing about your chats.
Yes. A scheduled task chooses its own mode on the task, and the choices include PTC mode; Schedule recurring tasks covers the setting.
