Every Warehouse object starts from the type you pick. This page collects the ways to start one, what the editor opens with, and the name it suggests. For what each object is and when to use it, see Warehouse.
A Transformation opens with no table attached: choose the Dimension or Fact it should load inside the editor.
Each editor follows its type's guide: Create a dimension or fact table, Build, test and finalize a transformation, Views, Dictionaries, Static tables and Semantic sources, source systems and logical models.
Right-click a group row in the tree to start a new object with part of the setup already chosen:
| Row you right-click | You can start | Already filled in |
|---|---|---|
| A Logical model | Dimension, Fact, Dictionary, Static or View | that logical model is selected |
| A table type row, such as Dimension | Add new: another table of that type | that logical model is selected |
| A Semantic source | Dimension, Fact or Dictionary | its source systems are selected |
| A Source system | Dimension, Fact or Dictionary | that source system is selected |
On a Dimension or Fact table row, choose Add transformation to start a transformation for that table; the table is attached automatically. Right-click menus lists every action on each kind of row.
Every new editor opens with a default name built from the object type and the smallest free number, such as New Semantic Source 1, New Dimension Table 1, New Fact Table 1, New Dictionary Table 1, New Static Table 1, View 1 or Transformation 1. The number counts only your open creation windows: start another dimension while this one is open and it becomes 2; close a window and its number is free again. The object itself keeps the name you set in the editor.
When you save, the new object is added to the tree straight away, so you do not need to refresh the list. What follows depends on the type: a table stays Pending until you deploy it (Deploy, run, truncate and monitor tables); a transformation is built, tested and finalized on its own pages (Build, test and finalize a transformation).
Four: New in the tree toolbar, Add New in the header, a right-click on a group row (a logical model, a table type, a semantic source or a source system), and the Add button at the end of each type card on the Warehouse Dashboard, such as Add Fact. On a Dimension or Fact row you can also choose Add transformation.
A default such as New Dimension Table 1 or Transformation 1: the object type plus the smallest free number. The number counts your open creation windows, so a second new dimension becomes 2, and closing a window frees its number for the next object. Name the object in the editor; the tree shows that name after you save.
Yes. Right-click a Source system row in the tree (or a Semantic source) and choose Dimension, Fact or Dictionary. The editor opens with the source system already selected.
Yes. New > Transformation opens with no table attached; choose the Dimension or Fact it should load inside the editor. Starting from a table row with Add transformation attaches that table for you.
It is the guidance note under each card's description: it names the situation the object suits. Warehouse compares all eight object types.
They are the same catalogue through two routes. Add New is the browsable panel with a card and a Use when note per type; New in the tree toolbar is the compact menu. Both open the same editors.
Check your saved view: Basic View groups the tree by logical model and table type, so a new Semantic source shows under Source Chain instead. Switch views (Saved views and configurations), or click Refresh in the toolbar to reload the tree.
