Right-click a row in the Warehouse tree to reach the actions for that object, from starting a transformation to deploying or deleting. Which menu appears depends on the kind of row you right-click.
A table or a transformation row opens the menu with the actions for that object:
| Item | When it appears | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Add transformation | On a Dimension or Fact row | Opens a new transformation for that table, with the table already attached. |
| Duplicate transformation | On a transformation row | Opens a new copy of the transformation for you to save under its own Suffix. |
| Copy name | On a table or transformation row | Copies the row's name, ready to paste elsewhere. |
| Select / Deselect | On a table or transformation row, while Batch Select is on | Ticks or unticks the row for the current batch selection. |
| Deploy | On a Fact, Dimension, View or Static table that is not deployed yet | Creates the table in the Warehouse from its definition. |
| Delete | On a table or transformation row | Removes the row, after a confirmation. |
To open a table or transformation editor, double-click its row, or select it and press Enter. The menu is for the actions around the object; Open object editors shows which window opens for each kind.
Deploy appears only on a table that is not deployed yet, and only for Fact, Dimension, View and Static tables. A Dictionary deploys from its own editor instead; Deploy, run, truncate and monitor tables covers what deploying does.
Select and Deselect appear while Batch Select is on in the tree toolbar. The Warehouse workspace tour covers the toolbar and the keyboard shortcuts for row actions.
Delete asks you to confirm first; deleting cannot be undone. Delete Warehouse objects covers single and batch deletes.
The rows that organise the tree have their own menus. Each one starts objects inside the group, or opens the batch grid for its tables:
| Row you right-click | Items | What they do |
|---|---|---|
| A logical model | Add, Batch edit | Add starts a table kind (Dimension, Fact, Dictionary, Static or View) with that model chosen. |
| A table type, such as Dimension | Add new, Batch edit | Add new starts another table of that type, with the model chosen. |
| A semantic source | Add, Batch edit | Add starts a Dimension, a Fact or a Dictionary with the source's systems chosen. |
| A source system | Add, Batch edit | Add starts a Dimension, a Fact or a Dictionary with that source system chosen. |
Every Add item opens the object's creation editor with the group already chosen, so part of the setup is done before you start; Create Warehouse objects lists what carries over. Batch edit opens the batch grid scoped to that group; Batch edit covers the grid and saving.
Some rows are placeholders instead of real groups. Ungrouped Tables does not open a menu; Unassigned Source and No Source Systems Defined list every table kind under Add and do not offer Batch edit.
Deploy needs two things: the table is not deployed yet, and it is a Fact, Dimension, View or Static table. An already deployed table has no Deploy, and a Dictionary never has one; deploy a Dictionary from its own editor instead. See Deploy, run, truncate and monitor tables.
Add transformation appears on Dimension and Fact rows only. A transformation loads a Dimension or a Fact, so a View, a Dictionary or a Static table does not offer the item. Start one from a Dimension or a Fact row, or from New in the tree toolbar.
Right-click the transformation row and choose Duplicate transformation. The editor opens as a new copy, with the transformation's query, mapping and dependencies carried over, so you can give the copy its own Suffix and save it.
The name of the object you right-clicked, exactly as it shows in the tree, ready to paste elsewhere.
Turn on Batch Select in the tree toolbar first. While it is on, the menu shows Select on an unticked row and Deselect on a ticked one; choosing it does the same as clicking the row's checkbox.
It warns that the action cannot be undone and names the object, for example This action cannot be undone. This will permanently delete this Dimension. When the kind is not known, it reads This action cannot be undone. This will permanently delete this item. The row is removed only after you confirm.
The Add list there offers Dimension, Fact and Dictionary only. To start a View or a Static table, right-click a logical model instead, or use New in the tree toolbar or Add New in the header; Create Warehouse objects shows every entry point.
Double-click its row, or select it and press Enter. The editor opens in its own window; Open object editors shows which window opens for each kind.
