Warehouse Dashboard

The Dashboard shows the Warehouse as cards: one card per group of tables or transformations. Use it to scan what exists, find an object, reorder the view and jump into any editor.

Open the Dashboard

  1. Open Warehouse from the sidebar.
  2. Click Dashboard in the header on the right.

The Warehouse opens on the view you used last, and on Dashboard when nothing is saved yet. The other header views are Relationship Diagram, Workflow Diagram and Add New; the Warehouse workspace tour covers the whole screen.

Read the cards

Each card is a group, and every table or transformation in it is a row.

Choose a grouping

The toggle above the cards changes what they group by. By type is the default.

GroupingWhat the cards show
By typeOne card per table type: Fact, Dimension, View, Static and Dictionary. Tables with no type appear under Other. Each card ends with an Add button named for its type, such as Add Fact.
Logical modelsOne card per logical model. A table that belongs to several models appears on each of them. Tables with no model appear under Unassigned.
TransformationsEach transformation under its parent table.

Search the Dashboard

  1. Type in Search tables and transformations... above the cards.
  2. The search matches table names, transformation names and group labels loosely, so part of a word is enough. Groups with no matches are hidden while you search.
  3. Click Clear search to reset.

Reorder the cards

  1. Point at a card's drag handle. Its tooltip reads Drag to reorder.
  2. Drag the card to a new place.

The order is saved for that grouping, in this browser only. The layout follows your window: each column is at least 400 pixels wide, and the Dashboard uses at most four columns.

Refresh the Dashboard

While the Dashboard is open, it reloads the Warehouse list every 30 seconds, so new or changed objects appear on their own. To reload straight away, click Refresh in the tree toolbar on the left. While the list loads, the area shows "Loading tables".

When the Dashboard is empty

Questions, answered

How often does the Dashboard refresh?

Every 30 seconds while it is open. To reload straight away, click Refresh in the tree toolbar.

Can the same table appear in several groups?

Yes, in the Logical models grouping: a table that belongs to several logical models is listed on each of them. In By type it appears once, under its type or under Other.

How do I create a table from the Dashboard?

In By type, each card ends with an Add button named for its type, such as Add Fact. It opens a new table popup. The other groupings have no Add buttons; use Add New in the header to create any object type. Warehouse lists the object types.

What does the number next to a table mean?

It is the table's transformation count. When the count is zero, the number is hidden.

What opens when I click a table or transformation?

Its popup, the same editor that opens from the tree. See Create a dimension or fact table and Build, test and finalize a transformation.

Is my Dashboard layout shared with my colleagues?

No. Your grouping and card order are saved in this browser only, not on your account.

What does the Dashboard search match?

Table names, transformation names and group labels, loosely: part of a word is enough. Groups with no matches are hidden while you search.

Why does the search say "No results found"?

No table, transformation or group matched your text. Change the text, or click Clear search to see everything again.

Why does the Dashboard say "No warehouse objects found"?

The Warehouse has no tables or transformations yet. Create one from the New menu in the tree toolbar or from Add New in the header. The message stays the same even while you search, because there is nothing to match.

How many cards appear per row?

As many as your window fits: each column is at least 400 pixels wide, and the Dashboard shows at most four columns.
