Find and open a Mind

Use the Minds list to find a Mind, open it and move between its tabs. This page covers the list and its search, bookmarks, filters and sorting; to create a Mind, see Create a Mind, and to change or copy one, see Edit and duplicate a Mind.

Open the Minds list

  1. Open Minds in the left panel, or press Ctrl+Shift+M.
  2. Pick a Mind from the list. Its details open beside the list, on the five tabs described below.
  3. Return to the list any time to switch Minds.

On a desktop screen the list stays open beside the Mind you have selected. Its header carries Add Mind and Duplicate:

Each row shows the Mind's name, a kind badge on builder Minds and a status badge when the Mind has a status. Hover a row to reveal its quick actions: Bookmark (or Remove bookmark) and Delete.

A compact version of the list is marked Navigation. Beside that label sits its own Add Mind button, and its Search button opens the Search minds... field with a Clear search button. Its bookmark filter toggles between Show bookmarks only and Show all minds, and its rows offer Bookmark, Duplicate and Delete.

Search, filter and sort

When nothing matches, the list reads No minds found; the compact panel is more specific: No matching minds found after a search, No bookmarked minds found with the bookmark filter on, or No agent minds found when there are no Minds to show.

Bookmark, duplicate or delete a Mind

After you delete the Mind you are viewing, the panel moves to the first Mind left in your list. When no Minds remain, the no-Minds state appears. What a delete removes is on Create a Mind.

Open a Mind and move between its tabs

Click a Mind in the list to open it. The panel holds five tabs:

TabWhat it holds
SettingsThe Mind's name, description, tags, status and appearance. See Mind settings.
AI ConfigThe models and behaviour the Mind offers. See Choose models and AI behaviour.
SourcesThe tables the Mind may use. See Link data to a Mind.
Training HubThe Mind's training cards. See Train a Mind with training cards.
BenchmarksQuestion banks and experiments. See Test a Mind with benchmarks.

Not every tab is available everywhere:

A tab that is locked for your access or your screen cannot be opened from a link either. If the tab you are on becomes locked, for example when the screen changes to a phone layout, the panel moves you to a tab you can still use: the Training Hub when that is your only tab, otherwise the Settings tab.

If the open tab has unsaved edits and you switch tabs, Discard unsaved changes? appears. It names both tabs, for example You have unsaved changes in Settings. Switching to AI Config will discard them. Choose Discard changes to drop the edits, or Stay on this tab to keep them.

Each tab is isolated, so a problem inside one tab stays there and the rest of the panel keeps working.

Read a Mind's preview

Hover a Mind's name in a chat, or its row in the Select Mind list, for a read-only preview: the Mind's description, with Created, Updated and Responsible details under it, each with the person and the date. The Responsible line appears when the Mind is set to show its responsible person. A person or role that cannot be resolved shows as User #12 or Role #12.

On a phone

On a phone the list becomes a selector at the top of the Mind panel, showing the Mind you are viewing. Tap it to open the list:

  1. Type in Search minds... or scroll to a Mind.
  2. Bookmarked Minds come first, then the other Minds grouped by status.
  3. Tap a Mind to open it. Each row carries Bookmark (or Remove bookmark), and Delete when you may delete Minds.

When nothing matches, the selector reads No minds found.

Questions, answered

How do I find a Mind by name?

Type in Search... in the Minds sidebar and the list narrows as you type. The compact panel has its own Search minds... field with a Clear search button. To search chats and artifacts at the same time, see Search and navigation.

What does the number on the Filters button mean?

It counts the filters that are on, such as a kind, a user, a date range or a tag. The count stops at 9+. Open Filters and click Reset to clear every filter; Close closes the popover.

Why are some Minds missing from the list?

A search word, the bookmarks toggle or a filter is hiding them. Clear the search, click the bookmarks toggle, or press Reset in the filters popover. When everything is hidden, the list reads No minds found, and the compact panel says No matching minds found or No bookmarked minds found.

Can I sort the Minds list by tag?

Yes. Sort minds offers Name (A-Z), the default, and Tag (A-Z). Tag sorting orders Minds by their first tag, and Minds without tags come last.

What happens after I delete the Mind I am viewing?

The panel moves to the first Mind left in your list. When no Minds remain, the no-Minds state appears. What a delete removes is on Create a Mind.

How do I switch Minds on my phone?

Tap the selector at the top of the Mind panel. Bookmarked Minds are listed first, then the rest grouped by status; type in Search minds... to narrow the list. Each row offers Bookmark and Delete.

Why is a tab in the Mind panel greyed out or missing?

Greyed-out tabs explain themselves when you point at them, or tap them on a touch screen. Sources and Benchmarks stay greyed on builder Minds. Without Edit Mind the Benchmarks tab disappears from the tab bar, and on a phone Sources, Training Hub and Benchmarks are left out because they need a desktop screen. See Warehouse Builder and Lake Builder and Test a Mind with benchmarks.

I followed a link to a tab and it did not open. Why?

A tab that is locked for your access or your screen cannot be opened from a link either. If the tab you are on becomes locked, the panel moves you to one you can still use, the Training Hub or the Settings tab.

Why does switching tabs ask about unsaved changes?

The tab you are leaving holds edits you have not saved. Discard unsaved changes? names the tabs: Discard changes drops the edits and Stay on this tab keeps them.

How do I see who created a Mind or when it was last updated?

Hover the Mind's name in a chat, or its row in the Select Mind list. The preview lists Created and Updated with the person and the date, and Responsible when the Mind shows it. A person or role that cannot be resolved shows as User #12 or Role #12.
