Presentation themes

A presentation that you build from a chat takes its look from a theme. The theme picker opens from the presentation's settings dialog and offers a catalog of themes, each with its own preview. These themes style the presentation itself. The colour theme of the interface is separate; you choose it in Your profile and preferences.

Open the theme picker

  1. Open the settings dialog of the presentation you are configuring. To start a presentation from a chat, see Generate a presentation or slide deck.
  2. In the Theme section, click Browse. The picker opens.

Choose a theme

  1. Optional: type in Search themes... to find a theme by name.
  2. Optional: click one or more Suggested Categories: chips to narrow the list: Starred, Dark, Light, Professional, Colorful. A theme must match every chip you pick.
  3. Click a theme card once to preview it. The pane above shows the theme's name, its preview, and the Style: and Colors: chips that describe its look.
  4. Click Select Theme, or double-click a card, to apply the theme and close the picker.

The grid shows placeholder cards while the catalog loads. On a full screen it shows five themes per row; on a phone, two, and the picker opens as a bottom sheet.

The picker leaves out the theme the presentation already uses, so the current theme is not in the list. If you have not previewed another theme, Select Theme keeps the current one. Random previews a theme picked at random from the list you have filtered; it is greyed out when no theme matches your search or chips.

After you apply a theme, the settings dialog shows its name and a small background preview.

Star your favourites

Each theme card carries a star.

The theme catalog

The catalog ships with more than 100 themes, from Basic Light and Basic Dark to named looks such as Pearl, Vortex, Clementa, Stratos, Nova, Twilight and Coral Glow.

A custom theme shows its name and a Custom badge instead of a preview image.

If nothing matches your search or categories, the grid says No themes found with Try different search or filters. Clear the search box, or click a chip again to remove it, and the themes return.

Questions, answered

Where do I find the theme picker?

Open a presentation's settings dialog and click Browse in the Theme section. For how to build a presentation from a chat, see Generate a presentation or slide deck.

How do I apply a theme to a presentation?

Click a theme to preview it, then click Select Theme; or double-click a card. The picker closes, and the settings dialog shows the chosen theme.

What is the difference between one click and a double-click?

One click only previews the theme in the pane above. A double-click applies the theme and closes the picker.

Why is the theme my presentation already uses missing from the list?

The picker leaves out the theme the presentation is already using. It stays applied unless you choose another one.

Can I search or filter the list?

Yes. Search themes... finds a theme by name, and the Suggested Categories: chips narrow the list: Starred, Dark, Light, Professional or Colorful. Chips combine, so a theme must match all of them.

What does the Random button do?

It previews a theme picked at random from the list you have filtered. It is greyed out when no theme matches your search or chips. Click Select Theme to apply the theme it shows.

What does the star on a theme do?

It saves the theme to your favourites, and the Starred category then shows only those themes. Your stars are kept in this browser.

How many themes are there?

More than 100. They range from the plain Basic Light and Basic Dark to named looks such as Pearl, Vortex, Clementa, Stratos, Nova, Twilight and Coral Glow.

Why does a theme show only its name?

That is a custom theme. It has no preview image, so its card shows the theme name and a Custom badge instead.

Why does the grid say "No themes found"?

Nothing in the catalog matches your search text or the selected chips. Clear the search or remove a chip, and the list returns.
