This page lists the keys that work across DataMind OS, wherever you are. Use it to reach the sidebar, Open Popups and the notifications, and to work the left panel of a data screen without a mouse.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl+B | Shows or hides the sidebar. On a Mac, press ⌘+B. See Find your way around. |
| Alt+Q | Opens Open Popups. Press it again to close the picker. It works when you can read or change Lake tables. See Open Popups. |
| F8 | Jumps to the notifications. See In-app notifications. |
| Escape | Closes the dialog or menu that is on top. |
| Enter | Confirms the top confirmation dialog and runs its default action, such as Save & Continue. |
Enter stands down while the focus is in a field, a button or a link, so those keep the key for their own use.
The left panel of Lake, Warehouse, WriteBack, DataPrism and Slides answers to the same keys. They act on the row highlighted in the panel:
| Action | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| Add New | Alt+N |
| Edit (opens the highlighted row) | Enter |
| Rename | F2 |
| Duplicate | Alt+C |
| Batch Edit | Ctrl+Shift+E |
| Sync Schema | Ctrl+Shift+S |
| Refresh | Ctrl+R (not available in Safari) |
| Copy Name | Ctrl+Shift+C |
| Delete | Ctrl+Backspace |
| View Source | Ctrl+U |
| Show Workflows | Alt+W |
On a Mac, press ⌘ in place of Ctrl. Every area adds its own keys on top of this set; to look one area up in full, use the area's own reference.
The keys act on the row highlighted in the panel. With no row highlighted, or while you are typing in a field or a dialog is open, they stand down. Click the row first, then press the key.
Browsers keep Ctrl+N, Ctrl+Shift+W and Ctrl+D for themselves, for opening and closing windows and bookmarking pages, so the panel uses Alt+N, Alt+W and Alt+C for Add New, Show Workflows and Duplicate.
Move with the arrow keys and press Enter to pick. Escape closes the list. Until you have stepped into a suggestion, Enter takes exactly the text you typed.
Yes. Date and time fields accept typed digits. In a time field, the arrow keys step the value, and the focus moves on when a part is complete. In the Day of month grid, the arrow keys move by one day or one week, and Home and End jump to 1 and 31.
Press Backspace in the empty input. The last tag or chip you added is removed, one at a time.
Enter opens the highlighted row unless the focus is on something that uses Enter itself, such as a button, a link or an open menu. Click the row to give it the keys back, then press Enter.
Each area lists its extra keys on its own page. The Editor's shortcut reference and the deck editor's key map are the fullest examples, and the Lake screen and the Warehouse workspace list theirs beside their trees.
