Every chat in the sidebar shows what it is doing: a status in its row, a badge or two beside the title, and a short notice when something happens to it. This page covers those marks and notices; Pin, rename, fork or archive a chat covers the actions themselves, and Manage workspaces and chats covers the lists the chats sit in.
One notice shows at a time. A notice with more to read, such as a failure, holds for about six seconds, and showing the same notice again restarts its hold. Choosing an action in a notice dismisses the notice first, then runs the action.
| Notice | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
Session archived. | The chat was archived and left the lists. | Choose undo to bring it straight back, or filter archived sessions to show the archived chats (Group, order and filter chats). |
Session stopped and archived. | The chat still had work running; you confirmed the stop, Oda stopped that work, and the chat was archived. | The same two choices apply; work that was stopped does not restart on its own. |
Pin failed. | The pin was not saved; nothing changed. | Try pinning the chat again. A pin that works is quiet. |
Unpin failed. | The unpin was not saved; nothing changed. | Try unpinning the chat again. |
Archived sessions cannot be opened. | The chat is archived, so it cannot open. | Unarchive it from its menu, then open it (Pin, rename, fork or archive a chat). |
Unable to create default workspace. | Oda could not set up its default workspace on first use. | Pick a folder for a workspace yourself; Oda does not try again until the next time it starts. |
New session failed: <message> | Oda could not create the new chat, and the rest of the message names the reason. | Nothing else changed; try New chat again. |
Oda is working in that chat right now, and the mark stays until the work ends. When helper subagents are still working, the row counts them instead, as in 2 subagents running.
The chat has something waiting for you: an approval, a question, or a plan to review. The row reads Waiting for approval, Plan awaiting review or Waiting for answer, and Needs you replaces its time. Open the chat to see what it needs.
No. A chat that both works and waits for you keeps the waiting status until you answer it: Needs you outranks Running.
That chat finished while you were elsewhere, so it counts as unread and reads Completed. Opening the chat clears the bold title and the dot.
They are badges: read-only marks that show their label when you point at them, such as the alarm badge for a chat with an active scheduled task. They are not buttons; only the row takes clicks. Two show at a time, and any others fold into a +N count.
In the hover card: rest on the chat for a moment and the card opens with the full title, when the chat last changed, its status, and an Archived line when the chat is archived.
The card stays away while a menu is open or while you are dragging a row. Close the menu or finish the drag, then rest on the row again.
Session stopped and archived mean? The chat still had work running when you archived it. You confirmed the stop, Oda stopped that work the same way the stop button does, and the chat was archived. The notice offers undo and filter archived sessions, and the stopped work does not restart on its own.
If the pin was not saved, the notice reads Pin failed.; a failed unpin reads Unpin failed. Nothing changed either way, so try again. A pin that works is quiet: no notice appears.
With no chats at all, the list reads No sessions yet; start one with New chat. When the current view or filter matches nothing, it reads No matches; check View options and the archived filter.
