Settings > Skills in the DataMind Oda desktop app lists the skills on this computer, where each one came from, and the versions each one keeps. Use it to change a skill, bring back a deleted one, or return to an earlier version.
Each skill shows where it came from: your own skills folder, a shared location, the project you work in, a custom folder, the skills that come with DataMind Oda, or another source. Skills in your skills folder are editable; the others are read-only in this list, so changing one means copying it into your skills folder first.
This computer cannot open folders from the app.You can change a skill's description and its instructions. Everything else the skill file holds, including its resource files, stays as it is.
A skill cannot be renamed. Create a new skill instead. Create a new skill when you want a different name. The instructions are too long.Deleting a skill saves its current version first, so the skill stays restorable. Find it under Recently deleted, most recently deleted first, and restore it: the saved version is written back into your skills folder. A restore keeps the state it replaced, so a restore can itself be undone.
Every change keeps the version before it. Open a skill's saved versions to view and restore earlier ones.
Skills reach the list from a chat, from an import, or from your own files in the skills folder. To add one from outside, import it from a folder, a . file or a link: the app shows a preview of exactly what will be written, and nothing is saved until you import. An import writes exactly what the preview showed, and a preview that waits too long expires: The preview expired.
The sources you can use, and how saves are approved, are on Create and install skills.
SKILL. md file inside, or a single . md file; the format is on Skill files.SKILL. md last, so Oda never picks up a half-written skill. The file path "<path>" leaves the skill folder.Only skills directly inside your skills folder can be removed.Your skills folder has no skill named "<name>".A skill named "<name>" already exists in your skills folder. The skill "<name>" has more than <n> files or <size>, so its current version cannot be kept in the skill history. Change it in the skills folder instead. The skills folder could not be changed: <reason>.No. A skill keeps its name: A skill cannot be renamed. Create a new skill when you want a different name.
Yes. Deleting keeps the skill's current version, and the skill waits under Recently deleted until you restore it. Restoring puts it back into your skills folder.
Yes. Restoring keeps the state it replaced, so restoring another version takes you back again.
Up to the newest 10: each change keeps the version before it, and older ones drop out as new ones arrive.
The version may be gone, or its files may no longer match what was saved:
No saved version "<id>" of the skill "<name>" exists. The saved version of the skill "<name>" is damaged and cannot be used.If several changes of a skill were saved at the same moment, the extra copy is refused: Too many versions of this skill were saved at the same moment. Try the change again.
A skill that is too large to keep a version cannot be saved, changed or deleted from the app: The skill "<name>" has more than <n> files or <size>, so its current version cannot be kept in the skill history. Change the skill directly in your skills folder.
The app keeps it and can open it in your file manager; when it cannot open folders, it says This computer cannot open folders from the app. A skill is a folder with a SKILL. file inside, or a single . file; the format is on Skill files.
The change is kept in the skill's saved versions as a change made outside the app, and a skill you delete outside the app shows under Recently deleted. When and how the app picks up those changes is on Skill files.
Some presets choose a fixed set of skills and do not see skills added later. You can change the preset's skill selection; see Agent presets.
