You can add a skill from a chat: ask Oda to create one for you, or point it at an existing skill to install from a folder, a . file or a link. Oda shows what will be written before anything is saved, and the files are written only after you approve them.
weekly-report; the name becomes the / <name> command./ <name> in any chat, or let Oda load it when a task matches. How skills run is on Skills: loading and running.Created; changing one reports Updated.A skill named "<name>" already exists in your skills folder. It asks whether to replace the existing skill before writing anything.. zip file, or an https link, such as a GitHub repository or a folder inside one, a SKILL. md page, or a raw SKILL. md file. If you ask for a skill by name, Oda can find its source for you, and shows you the link it picked before installing. The source holds N skills: …. Name the one to install.SKILL. md last, so a half-written skill never appears. The file format is on Skill files (SKILL.md).Not saved:, each with a reason, such as file type not allowed, hidden file or path leaves the skill folder. Before a skill is written from a chat, Oda asks for your approval, starting with Create the skill "<name>" in your skills folder? (an install says Install the skill "<name>" in your skills folder?). The prompt shows:
Source: where the skill comes from, and Downloaded from: the sites it was fetched from when it comes from a link.Folder: where the files will be written.Description: and When to use:, as the skill states them.Files (N, size): every file to be written, with its size, and anything left out under Not saved:.This replaces your existing skill "<name>"; its current version is kept, and you can restore it in Settings > Skills. The prompt closes with The files are only saved, never run. Installing a skill never runs anything; the files are only saved.
In a session with Full access, Oda writes the files without an approval prompt, and reports The session has Full access, so it was written without an approval prompt.
The chat keeps a card for the save, titled Create skill or Install skill (Check skill when Oda only checks a source):
/ <name> · <outcome>, with outcomes created, installed, or updated, previous version kept. The previous version is kept. You can restore it in Settings > Skills > History.Saving skill; a failed save reads Skill not saved and shows the reason; a stopped one reads Skill save stopped.nothing saved yet) and shows the raw result for you to read.Settings > Skills can also add a skill: import one from a folder, a . file or a link. The import writes exactly what its preview showed, so check the preview before you confirm. Everything else you can do with the skills on this computer, including saved versions and restoring a deleted skill, is on Manage your skills.
Yes. Point Oda at a repository link, a link to a folder inside a repository, a link to a SKILL. page, or a raw SKILL. file. Private repositories cannot be read. If the public request limit for this computer is used up, Oda says: GitHub refused the request because the hourly limit for this computer is used up.
Downloads come from the public internet over https only:
Only https links are supported; "<value>" is not one. Use an https link.Links with a user name or password are not supported. Use a plain public link.<host> is not a public internet address, so nothing is downloaded from it. A link to a private network or a local address is refused.Nothing is installed until you choose one. Name the skill you want, and Oda installs it: The source holds N skills: ….
No. A check reads the source and shows what would be installed and where it comes from, and writes nothing; the card ends with nothing saved yet. Nothing is added to your skills folder until you approve a real install.
created: a new skill was saved.installed: a skill was installed from a folder, a . zip file or a link.updated, previous version kept: an existing skill was replaced, and the version before the change stays in its history. Bring it back from Settings > Skills > History; details are on Manage your skills.Only text files and images are kept, so a skill is never made of files Oda cannot read or show. Anything else is listed for you under Not saved: with a reason, for example:
file type not allowed: the file is neither a text file nor a supported image.hidden file: hidden files are not saved.path leaves the skill folder: the file would be written outside the skill's folder, so it is skipped.Fix the file names in the source, or remove the files you do not need, and install again.
When approval prompts are turned off and the session does not have Full access, nothing can approve the write, so it is refused: Approval prompts are turned off in this session and it does not have Full access, so skills cannot be added from the chat. Add the skill in Settings > Skills instead, or switch the session to Full access or to a mode that asks for approval.
Nothing is written in any of these cases, and Oda reports why:
The user declined, so nothing was written. Ask what to change before trying again. The approval request was cancelled, so nothing was written. No one could answer the approval request, so nothing was written.Tell Oda what to change, and it can ask again.
Oda reports it right after the save. Usually the skill is available at once and runs with /. The two exceptions:
Another skill named "<name>", such as a project skill, takes precedence in this workspace, so / <name> runs that one here. Rename or remove the other skill if you want yours to run.The skill list has not picked it up yet; it becomes available as / <name> within a few seconds.Yes, with your agreement. Oda refuses to write over it first (A skill named "<name>" already exists in your skills folder.), asks whether to replace it, and the approval prompt says This replaces your existing skill "<name>"; its current version is kept, and you can restore it in Settings > Skills. The old version stays in the skill's history.
A download is limited to about 5 MB, a single file to 1 MB, and a skill to 200 files. A source that breaks these limits is refused, or the extra files are left out and listed under Not saved:.
