Roll back and restore connector versions

Every time the AI assistant changes a connector's files, it saves a version you can return to. The Version history drawer lists those versions, so you can roll the connector back to an earlier state after a change went wrong, or restore a version you rolled back. For the panel itself, see The AI assistant.

Open the version history

  1. In the connector's file editor, click History in the editor toolbar. Point to it first to read its tooltip: Version history - view and restore previous versions.
  2. The Version history drawer opens on the right, above the editor.

The drawer's description reads: "Every AI file change is a restorable version. Restoring always applies the whole version - individual files are never restored on their own."

Read the version list

Roll back to an earlier version

  1. Find the version you want the connector to return to, and expand it to check the files it changed.
  2. Click Roll back. While the change is being applied, the button shows a spinner and stays disabled; sending in the assistant waits until it finishes, as described in Write and send messages to the assistant.
  3. When it finishes, the connector's files are set to that version. The row is marked Current, the versions after it are marked Rolled back, and the connector's file views refresh on their own.

A roll back applies a whole version: individual files are never restored on their own.

The conversation records what happened too. A note reads "The code base was reverted to a point that was before the message below", and the message whose changes were undone is quoted under it. Click the quote to jump to that message; the tooltip reads Scroll to the reverted message.

Restore a version you rolled back

Roll back or restore from the conversation

Your messages in the connector's conversation carry the same controls, always visible beside the message:

Point to a button to read the same text. The note that records a roll back or restore also names who made it and when: point to it to read Reverted by {name} · {time} or Restored by {name} · {time}.

Questions, answered

How do I open a connector's version history?

In the connector's file editor, click History in the editor toolbar. Its tooltip reads Version history - view and restore previous versions, and the Version history drawer opens on the right, above the editor.

When is a version saved?

Every time the AI assistant changes the connector files. Until the first change, the drawer shows No versions yet with the line "A version is saved every time the AI assistant changes the connector files. Ask it to edit something and the version will appear here."

Can I restore a single file from a version?

No. Restoring applies the whole version only: "Restoring always applies the whole version - individual files are never restored on their own." Expand a version first to see which files it changed, then roll the connector back to the version you want.

What do the Current and Rolled back badges mean?

Current marks the version the connector's files match right now. Rolled back marks a version whose changes were undone; click Restore to put them back.

How do I undo a roll back?

Open the version history and click Restore on the version marked Rolled back. You can also use Undo this revert (restore the message below) on the roll back note in the conversation, while that roll back is still in effect.

What happens in the conversation when I roll back?

Nothing is deleted. A note appears where the change happened: "The code base was reverted to a point that was before the message below", with the message whose changes were undone quoted below it. Click the quote to jump to that message (tooltip: Scroll to the reverted message).

Do I need to refresh the file editor after a roll back?

No. When the roll back or restore lands, the connector's file views refresh on their own and the version list updates.

Why does an expanded version say "No file changes were recorded for this version."?

That turn saved a version but recorded no file edits, so there is nothing to preview there. Check the versions around it for the change you are looking for.

Who rolled back or restored the files, and when?

Point to the note in the conversation. Its tooltip names who did it and when, for example Reverted by {name} · {time} after a roll back, or Restored by {name} · {time} after a restore.
