DataGrip is a desktop SQL client. Use this page to connect it to your data in DataMind OS: you copy a ready-made data source from the Universe page and paste it into DataGrip. The data source is read-only.
The Universe page is not available on a phone. Copy the data source from a computer.
The copied text is a full DataGrip data source definition, not a plain URL. Its name and its user name include your email address, and the copy carries no password.
These steps happen in DataGrip, not in DataMind OS. Menu names depend on your DataGrip version, so use DataGrip's own help if a name differs.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Default database | The database DataGrip opens first. | information_schema |
| Read-only | DataGrip does not let you change data through this data source. | On |
| Databases shown | The Lake database of each of your roles, named after the role with _Lake, for example HR_Lake. | Your roles' Lake databases |
| SSL | Encrypts the connection. Your DataMind OS server sets it. | Follows the server |
| Socket timeout | How long DataGrip waits for the server to send data. | 5 minutes |
| Keep-alive and auto-close | The keep-alive and auto-close options DataGrip sets on the data source. | On |
Any signed-in user can copy the data source. The databases it shows and the data you can read are the ones your roles allow, the same as in the Editor. See SQL dialect and data scope and Roles and permissions.
The copy is a full data source definition, not a URL. Paste it into the Database Explorer in DataGrip. If you need a URL, copy the JDBC Connection String from Connection settings and use that instead.
The data source is created as read-only, so DataGrip does not let you change data through it. Use it to read your data.
The data source includes the Lake database of each of your roles and no Warehouse databases. To see more, select them in the schema settings of the data source in DataGrip.
Your DataMind OS password, the one you use to sign in. The copied text never contains it. If your account signs in only through single sign-on, set a DataMind OS password first, if your profile offers Set up password. See Your profile and preferences and Connection settings.
Each copy creates a new data source with a new ID, so pasting it does not update the data source you already have. Delete the one you do not need in DataGrip.
No. The data source follows the SSL setting of your DataMind OS server. When the server uses encryption, the data source requires it, and you do not change anything.
No. The copy carries your email address as its name and its user name, so it is set up for your account. A colleague should copy the data source from their own DataMind OS account instead.
Yes. The data source holds the address you opened DataMind OS with. If that address changes, copy the data source again from the new address.
