Connection Settings is the panel on the Universe page that shows the values a tool needs to reach your data: Host, Port, Email and JDBC Connection String. Open it when your tool has no tile of its own, or to check a value before you enter it in a tool.
Set up tools from a computer. On a phone, DataMind OS opens Minds, not Universe.
The side panel shows either Connection Settings or a tool's Documentation, and never both. Opening one replaces the other: when you click a tool tile, its Documentation takes the panel, and you can bring the values back with Connection Settings.
The panel shows four values. DataMind OS reads them from the server for the address you opened it with, and the JDBC Connection String is built from the Host and Port shown here.
| Value | What it is | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Host | The address you opened DataMind OS with, without a port and without a path. | The address in your browser |
| Port | The port your administrator exposes for client tools: the secure (HTTPS) port or the plain HTTP port, depending on how DataMind OS is set up. | Set by your administrator |
| Your account email. Every tool uses it as the user name. | Your account email | |
| JDBC Connection String | A connection URL for Java tools. It points the tool at the information_schema database. | Built from Host and Port |
Each value has its own copy button. Click it and the icon turns into a check mark for about two seconds, then paste the value into your tool. If your browser blocks clipboard access, the copy fails quietly: if the check mark does not appear, try again and see Troubleshooting integrations.
If your connection settings cannot load, DataMind OS shows a Connection settings unavailable warning, with the server's reason or Using fallback connection settings. Some features may be limited. Reload the page. If the warning returns, ask your administrator. See Troubleshooting integrations.
When the settings fail to load, the panel shows placeholder values that do not connect. Do not copy them into a tool.
jdbc:clickhouse://<host>:<port>/information_schema/?typeMappings=UInt64=java.lang.String
information_schema database.typeMappings part makes Java tools read UInt64 columns as text.Tools sign in with two values:
If you sign in with single sign-on and have no password yet, set one first: open your profile and click Set up password. The same password works in your tools. See Your profile and preferences.
When you change your password, use the new one in your tool on its next sign-in. A tool that still has the old password cannot connect until you enter the new one.
If your tool has a tile, its page in Integrations shows the setup that fits it; this panel is for tools without one.
The connections the tiles create use the same values: the address you opened DataMind OS with and the port for client tools. When your server uses an encrypted (HTTPS) address, the tiles switch their connections to the secure port and turn SSL on, except Power BI, whose template takes SSL as a parameter you set (see Power BI). The connections are read-only.
LIMIT or an aggregate. See Passwords, locks and limits for a user.Use your Email as the user name and your DataMind OS password as the password. If you sign in with single sign-on, set a password first.
Set one in your profile with Set up password, then use it in your tools. If your profile does not offer Set up password, see Your profile and preferences for what your company's sign-in settings allow.
Host is taken from the address you opened DataMind OS with, and it becomes the address your tools connect to. If your team opens DataMind OS at more than one address, the panel shows the one you are on.
The Lake and Warehouse data your roles give you, the same as in the Editor. Each role brings its own read access. To change what your roles can read, ask an administrator. See Roles and permissions.
No. The connections are read-only, so use a tool to read and query your data, not to change it.
typeMappings part of the JDBC string? It makes Java tools read UInt64 columns as text.
The connections the tiles give you turn SSL on for you when your server uses an encrypted (HTTPS) address, except Power BI, whose template takes SSL as a parameter you set. The JDBC Connection String from the panel has no SSL setting of its own, so for a connection you set up by hand, turn SSL on in the tool. The panel does not show whether your server uses encryption, so ask your administrator if you are not sure.
Some tools need one, and DataMind OS does not install it for you. Java tools connect with a ClickHouse JDBC driver, and ODBC tools need a ClickHouse ODBC driver on your computer. The Excel page shows the driver its connection file asks for.
The database stops a query that runs longer than the time limit on your account. Make the query lighter: add a filter or a LIMIT, or aggregate the data before you select the columns. The connections the SQL client tiles create also give up when the server sends no data for five minutes.
No. It holds the address, the port and the database information_schema, with no email and no password. Everyone can use the same string and sign in with their own Email and password.
