Install DataMind OS on an Android phone or tablet so that it opens from your home screen like an app. Use this page after you have signed in to DataMind OS in your browser.
Before you start
- Open DataMind OS in a browser that offers installation, such as Chrome. A browser that does not offer it shows no install option.
- Sign in with your DataMind OS email and password. See Sign in and sign out.
- Make sure your account has access to Minds. Without it, you cannot open Minds, which is the only page a phone opens. See Who can do what with Minds.
Install on a phone
- Open your DataMind OS address in Chrome and sign in.
- Do one of these:
- Tap Install on the banner at the top of Minds.
- Tap the panel button at the top left of Minds to open the side panel. Tap your name at the bottom of the panel, then tap Install app.
- Confirm in the browser's install prompt.
- Open DataMind OS from your home screen or app drawer.
Install on a tablet
A tablet that is 768 px wide or more gets the full DataMind OS layout, the same as a computer. The install banner does not appear there. Use the install options in the full layout instead:
- Open your DataMind OS address in Chrome and sign in.
- Do one of these:
- Open your Dashboard, in the Chat view, and tap Install app on the install card.
- Open the account menu in the sidebar and choose Install App.
- Confirm in the browser's install prompt.
- Open DataMind OS from your home screen or app drawer.

After you install
- DataMind OS opens in its own window, without the browser's address bar, and in portrait orientation.
- While you use the installed app, the install banner and the install options are hidden.
- In a browser on a computer or tablet, the sidebar's account menu shows Open App instead of Install App once the app is installed.
- You install DataMind OS from the browser, as this page describes.
- When a new version is ready, the app shows Update available. See DataMind OS on your phone.
Limits and edge cases
- The install options depend on the browser. They appear only when the browser offers installation. If they are missing, use Chrome, or check whether the app is already installed.
- Declining hides the offer. If you decline the browser's install prompt, Install and Install app disappear until the browser offers installation again. The browser decides when that happens.
- Dismissing the banner hides it until you close the tab. The Install app item in the side panel stays available while the browser offers installation.
- Uninstalling brings the offer back. Once the browser no longer reports the app as installed, the install options return.
Questions, answered
I do not see Install app. Why?
The install options are hidden when the app is already installed, when you open it from your home screen, or when the browser does not offer installation. Open DataMind OS in Chrome on your Android device. If the app is already installed, open it from your home screen.
I tapped no on the install prompt. Can I install later?
Yes, but only when the browser offers installation again. Until then, Install and Install app stay hidden. The browser decides when to offer installation again.
Does DataMind OS work on Android tablets?
Yes. A tablet that is 768 px wide or more gets the full layout. Install the app from the Install App item in the sidebar's account menu, or from the Install app card on your Dashboard.
Why is Install App greyed out on my tablet?
The browser has not offered installation yet. Use Chrome and reload DataMind OS. The item becomes available when the browser offers installation.
I uninstalled the app. Why does the install offer show again?
The browser no longer reports the app as installed, so DataMind OS offers installation again. Install the app again from one of the options above.
Why does the Android Devices tile on Universe have nothing to download?
The tile has no download. Its Documentation button opens setup help in the side panel. To install the app on your device, follow the steps on this page. See Integrations.
