In DataMind Oda, a skill is a named set of instructions for a task, with a description that says when to use it. In a chat, Oda picks and loads a matching skill on its own and follows it, and you can run a skill yourself at any time.
/ <name> anywhere in your message, for example / review-checklist.A / word runs a skill only when it matches a skill name exactly. /, 5/ and foo/ stay ordinary text, while a name inside a sentence, such as use /review-checklist for this, still runs the skill. A skill named twice in one message is loaded once.
Oda works from a list of the skills available in the chat: for each one, the name and a short description that says when to use it. It chooses from the descriptions, and Oda reads a skill's full instructions only when it loads the skill; the chat then shows a Load skill card naming it. When several skills fit a task, Oda can load more than one and follow them together.
Oda refreshes the list as skills change, so additions, renames and removals are picked up in the chat. When the list changes, Oda is told to use only the names in the current list, not names from earlier ones. In a long chat, the list is put back after the chat is compacted.
A skill can be set to wait for you, or kept for Oda alone. The two settings work independently and are recorded in the skill's file; Skill files and discovery covers the file and its keys.
/ <name> still runs it when you send it.When the same name exists in more than one place, Oda runs the skill from the nearer place: a project skill takes precedence over one from your own folder, and your own folder over the skills that come with DataMind Oda.
If Oda adds a skill whose name is already taken by a nearer skill, it tells you which skill runs: Another skill named "<name>", such as a project skill, takes precedence in this workspace, so / To add skills from a chat, see Create and install skills.
A skill can be deleted or renamed while a chat is open. When Oda tries to load a skill that is gone, it reports skill "<name>" is unknown or no longer available, and the chat's list refreshes with the change.
The name and a short description for each skill; the description says when to use it. Oda chooses from those descriptions, and reads a skill's full instructions only when it loads one.
Yes. A skill can be set to wait for you: it is left out of the list Oda chooses from, and / still runs it whenever you send it. An attempt to load it reports skill "<name>" is not available for model invocation.
Yes. A skill can be kept out of your / menu: you will not see it there, and Oda can still load it whenever a task fits.
Oda runs the skill from the nearer place: a project skill before one from your own folder, and your own folder before the skills that come with DataMind Oda. When Oda adds a skill whose name is already taken by a nearer one, it tells you which skill runs.
Oda runs a / name only when it matches a skill name exactly. /, 5/ and foo/ stay ordinary text; check the name in the / menu and send it again.
Yes. A chat can run under a preset that limits it to a chosen set of skills. Skills outside that set stay hidden in that chat, including in the / menu; see Presets.
skill "<name>" is unknown or no longer available mean?Oda tried to load a skill that is gone, usually because it was deleted or renamed. A skill deleted by mistake can be brought back in Settings > Skills: see Skills in Settings.
Oda is loading that skill's full instructions to follow for the task. It is a normal step of the work, and nothing is needed from you.
Yes. The list is put back after a long chat is compacted, so Oda still knows which skills are available, and it uses only the names in the current list.
