Every chat in DataMind Oda shows a name in the sidebar. A chat gets its first name from your first message, Oda can refine the name in the background, and you can rename a chat whenever you like. The conversation itself is covered in Chat with Oda, and the chat's turns and figures in Chat navigation and stats.
The lists themselves, from grouping to row marks, are covered in Chats and workspaces in the sidebar.
Two rules keep names honest and short:
A name you save is kept. Later messages do not change it, and Oda drops any automatic name it was still preparing for the chat. Your name changes again only if you rename the chat, or if the title is refreshed: a refresh derives a fresh name from the chat and puts it back on automatic naming.
A name must contain something visible. If a name holds only spaces or invisible characters, Oda refuses it and shows session title must contain visible characters.
The rest of the actions on a chat's row, from pinning to archiving, are covered in Pin, rename, fork or archive a chat.
Right after your first message with text: Oda shows a short name built from that message's opening words. A first message without text, such as one that is only an image, does not name the chat; the name comes from the first message that carries text.
No. A name you save is kept, and later messages do not change it. It changes again only when you rename the chat, or when the title is refreshed.
Only when the title is refreshed: a refresh derives a fresh name from the chat and puts the chat back on automatic naming, so later messages can change the name again. Until then, the name you saved is kept.
A name must contain something visible. If what you typed holds only spaces or invisible characters, Oda refuses it and shows session title must contain visible characters. Type at least one visible character and confirm again.
Automatic names are kept short: the first one uses at most the opening eight words of your message, and it is capped at 96 bytes. No title is longer than 120 bytes. The caps count bytes rather than letters, so a script whose characters need more bytes each fits fewer characters; a name that is cut never splits a character.
Yes. Visible characters are kept as they are, whichever script or symbol they come from. Invisible characters and control codes are removed before a name is shown, and a name that must be cut never splits a character.
A refined name appears only once an attempt succeeds. Each new message can start a fresh attempt, only the newest result is kept, and a failed attempt leaves the name you see in place. If you want a particular name, rename the chat.
No. A name is a label on the chat, not part of the conversation. It is not sent to the model with your messages, so renaming a chat does not change its content or what Oda works from.
