Dictionaries, Dimension and Fact tables, and Static tables show their stored rows on a Preview tab. Open it to read the rows stored in the warehouse, retry a query that failed, and export what you see. Preview works on deployed tables; until the table is deployed, the tab stays disabled.
A failed query does not clear the tab. The last good result stays on screen, so you can keep reading the rows you had.
Preview needs two things: the table must be saved, and it must be deployed. The messages name the table kind.
| Table | Not saved yet | Saved but not deployed |
|---|---|---|
| Dictionary | Dictionary Not Created, then Please save the dictionary first to preview data | Hover the disabled tab to read Dictionary must be deployed to preview data |
| Dimension or Fact | Table Not Created, then Please save the table first to preview data | Hover the disabled tab to read Table must be deployed to preview data |
| Static | Static Table Not Created, then Please save the static table first to preview data | Hover the disabled tab to read Table must be deployed to preview data |
If the table is not saved yet, save it first. If it is saved but not deployed, deploy it from its Settings tab: Dictionary settings, Dimension and fact settings or Static table settings. Dimension, Fact and Static tables can also be deployed from the tree by right-clicking them and choosing Deploy; see Deploy, run, truncate and monitor tables.
You can export the preview rows to a file. The file is named after the popup title; when the popup has no title, it is named after the table.
The table has not been saved. The tab reads Dictionary Not Created, Table Not Created or Static Table Not Created until the table exists. Save its General step first, then deploy the table.
The tab loads nothing until you ask it to. Click Refresh, and the rows appear. Before that first load, the tab reads Load the dictionary preview to get started, Load the table preview to get started or Load the static table preview to get started.
Both load the rows from the table. Refresh starts the load, and Retry does the same after a query has failed; it appears with the Query failed message.
That is intended. The tab keeps the last good result on screen instead of clearing it, so you do not lose the rows you were reading. Read the reason under Query failed, fix the problem, then click Retry.
It is named after the popup title. When the popup has no title, the file is named after the table.
View Warehouse Objects lets you open a table and read its preview and statistics. The full list is on Warehouse permissions and row-level security.
Yes. A view shows a Preview tab in its own popup; see Views.
