The Settings tab is where you deploy a dictionary and follow the refresh schedule that keeps its data current. It also carries the dictionary's statistics.
The Settings tab fills in only after the dictionary is saved and deployed. Until then it explains what is missing.
Nothing loads on the tab until the dictionary is deployed: no statistics and no refresh data.
Deploying creates the dictionary's table in the Warehouse from its current configuration.
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| Dictionary deployed successfully, with "The dictionary has been deployed to the warehouse" | The dictionary is in the warehouse. The statistics and the refresh panel start loading, and Preview opens. |
| Dictionary partially deployed | Only part of the deployment succeeded. The reason under the title describes the first failure. |
| Dictionary deployment failed, with "The dictionary could not be deployed.", or Failed to deploy dictionary | The dictionary was not deployed. Read the message, fix the problem, then click Deploy again. |
Once the dictionary is deployed, its Preview tab opens as well; see Preview table data. You can also deploy from the Data Mapping step, which shows a Deploy action until the table is deployed. See Troubleshooting for the other messages that can stop a deployment.
Above the refresh panel sits the strip titled Dictionary Statistics. Three cards summarise the stored table:
A card shows - while its value is not available. The strip carries the actions:
Under the statistics strip, Refresh Settings shows the refresh schedule: when it last ran, when it runs next, and how the last run went.
A status badge sits next to the heading, and the actions next to it change with the status:
| Status | Actions |
|---|---|
| Scheduled | Stop Schedule pauses the schedule; Synchronize runs a refresh straight away. |
| Running | Cancel Refresh stops the refresh in progress. |
| Disabled | Start Schedule starts the schedule again. |
The panel then lists the schedule and the current operation:
Empty values show -. Next Refresh and Until Next carry values while the status is Scheduled, and show - otherwise. Times appear in your local format, durations in ms, s or m, and sizes in B, KB, MB, GB or TB.
While the status is Scheduled, Until Next counts down and the panel reloads when the countdown ends. The panel also reloads by itself every five seconds.
When a refresh ended with an error, an Error chip shows a preview of the message. Click it to open Error Details with the full text, and use Copy Error to copy it.
The schedule uses the refresh interval set in the General step. While the panel loads it reads Loading view refresh data..., and when there is no refresh record it reads No view refresh data available.
The dictionary has not been saved yet. The line under the title reads Please save the dictionary table first to view settings. Save the dictionary first, then open Settings again.
The dictionary is saved but not yet in the warehouse. Click Deploy in the banner at the top of the tab. Until the dictionary is deployed, no statistics and no refresh data appear.
Only part of the deployment succeeded. The reason under the title describes the first failure. Read it, fix the problem, then click Deploy again.
It is either still loading, and reads Loading view refresh data..., or there is no refresh record for the table yet, and it reads No view refresh data available. Both states need a deployed dictionary, so deploy it first from the banner.
Yes. It reloads every five seconds. While the status is Scheduled, Until Next also counts down to the next run, and the panel reloads again when the countdown ends.
Yes. While the status is Scheduled, click Synchronize in the Refresh Settings panel to run a refresh straight away. The schedule stays as it is.
Those two values describe the next planned run, so they have values only while the status is Scheduled. Otherwise they show -.
A preview of the message from the last refresh that failed. Click the Error chip to open Error Details with the full message, and use Copy Error there to copy it.
