Tables, transformations and the other Warehouse objects open in popup windows. This page covers the window itself: its controls, moving and resizing it, the popup bar, and a window's audit details. To see where each editor opens from, read Open object editors; for the screen around the windows, see the Warehouse workspace tour.
Every window carries the same controls in its header:
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy title | Copies the window's title to the clipboard. |
| Refresh | Reloads the window from the server. If there are unsaved changes, it asks first. |
| Minimize | Sends the window to the popup bar. |
| Maximize / Restore | Fills the screen, and returns the window to its size. |
| Close | Closes the window. If there are unsaved changes, it asks first. |
| Audit details | Opens the Activity popover; shown when the record has audit information. |
Windows open at the size set for their editor:
| Window | Opens at |
|---|---|
| Dimension or Fact editor | 870 by 600 pixels |
| Transformation editor | 700 by 600 pixels |
| Semantic source editor | 960 by 600 pixels |
| Logical model editor | 800 by 500 pixels |
| Dictionary editor | 900 by 550 pixels |
| Static table editor | 870 by 550 pixels |
| View editor | 870 by 600 pixels |
| Batch Edit | 1200 by 800 pixels |
| Lake table editor | 1050 by 750 pixels |
Each window has its own minimum size; the Lake table editor, for example, stops at 924 by 700 pixels. A window without a set size opens at 600 by 400 pixels and cannot shrink below 500 by 300 pixels.
Click Minimize, or press Alt+W to minimise every open window at once. Minimised windows gather on the popup bar along the bottom of the screen:
3/ 12, and the plain total on All popups. The bar appears while you have windows open, and it hides while a window fills the screen. Minimised windows still count towards the Warehouse limit of 20 windows; Warehouse explains what happens at the limit.
When a record has audit information, its window header shows an Audit details button. It opens the Activity popover, with a Created entry and, after someone edits the record, an Updated entry. Each entry names the user and the time.
A transformation window also shows Created and Edited chips in its footer. Created carries the date, the time and the user of creation; Edited appears once the transformation has been changed, and carries the date, the time and the user of that change. See Build, test and finalize a transformation.
Drag the window by its header to move it, or drag its right edge or bottom-right corner to resize it. A window cannot shrink below its minimum size, and it stays inside the working area. If a scrollbar sits at the right edge under your pointer, it keeps working as a scrollbar; resize from the bottom-right corner instead.
Double-click its header, or click Maximize. Double-click again, or click Restore, to return the window to its size. A full-screen window comes to the front, and the popup bar hides while it is open.
To the popup bar along the bottom of the screen, as a chip with the window's icon and title. The window stays open as you left it; bring it back to continue. To minimise every open window at once, press Alt+W.
Click its chip on the popup bar, or focus the chip and press Enter or Space. To bring all of them back at once, press Alt+E or click Expand all on the bar.
They show the chips on screen over the total, such as 3/ for three chips out of twelve. On All popups the button shows the total alone. The choices are All popups, Lake, Warehouse, Write back and BI.
Yes. Right-click a chip and choose Close others, Close to the right or Close all. The close actions follow the chips your filter currently shows, and choices that do not apply are greyed out.
The window asks first (Close Popup): click Close to close without saving, or Cancel to stay and Apply your changes first.
A refresh reloads the window from the server, so it discards unsaved changes; it asks first, with Refresh Popup. Click Refresh to reload anyway, or Cancel. A refresh also clears drafts the window kept, so only saved data returns.
No. Escape minimises the window on top instead, so your work stays open. While a dialog or menu is open above the window, or while your cursor is in a text field, Escape goes to that dialog, menu or field instead, and the window is not minimised.
Click Audit details in the window header (it appears when the record has audit information) and read the Activity popover: a Created entry, and an Updated entry after a change, each with the user and the time. A missing user reads Unknown user, and a missing time reads not recorded.
They are the transformation's audit trail, shown at the bottom of its window. Created carries the date, time and user of creation; Edited appears once the transformation has been changed. See Build, test and finalize a transformation.
If the window's content fails to load, it shows Something went wrong with The content could not be displayed and This popup will close automatically..., and it closes on its own after about 15 seconds. Open the editor again from the tree or the Dashboard; if it keeps failing, report it to your administrator.
