Write and edit a training card
Pick a card in the Explorer and it opens in the editor, in its own tab. This page covers writing and saving a card: the tab strip, the card's name, tags and type, the text area, the check for personal data on save, and the history of earlier versions.
Open and switch between cards
- Click a card in the Explorer to open it. It gets its own tab at the top of the editor, and you can open as many cards as you need.
- Drag a tab sideways to reorder the strip. Hover over a tab to reveal its close control, which reads Close tab.
- If a tab has unsaved edits, closing it asks Close tab with unsaved changes? The dialog says that "{name}" has unsaved edits and that closing will discard them. Confirm with Close tab, or keep the tab open.
- Tabs that no longer fit move under Show more (tooltip Show hidden cards); pick a card there to bring it forward.
- Closing the active tab brings its neighbour forward.
When no card is open, the editor panel reads Select a card to edit. The Training Hub itself is covered in Train a Mind with training cards.
Name, tags and type
- Name: click the card's name to edit it in place; the field shows Card name... when it is empty. Press Enter to confirm. Names must be unique within the Mind.
- Tags: click Tag, type a tag and press Enter. Tags appear as #tag chips; duplicates are ignored, and a card takes up to 10 tags (the Tag button disappears at the limit).
- Type: choose Vectorized or Persistent. Persistent cards are part of the Mind's instructions; Vectorized cards are prepared for search. What each is for is on Train a Mind with training cards.
The editor header
- The Enabled / Disabled switch turns the card on for the Mind. When a card cannot be enabled yet, point at the switch to read the reason.
- Share opens Manage shares for the card; see Share and copy training cards.
- PDF attaches a file to this card (it reads Uploading… while a file is being sent); see Upload files as training cards.
- A card that another Mind shared into yours is read-only here. Its badge reads "Shared from {owner Mind} - click to open the original", and clicking it opens the card in the Mind that owns it. This card offers Convert to local and Remove instead of Delete.
- While a save is running, the header actions cannot be used.
Write the card
The body is a markdown editor. An empty card shows Start writing, or type / to open the menu.
- Type / for the insert menu: Text, Bullet list, H1, Ordered list, H2, Task list, H3, Code, Quote, Table, Divider. Move with the arrow keys and press Enter to insert; the menu footer reads "↑↓ navigate · Enter select". A new code block starts as SQL.
- Spell check and autocorrect stay off while you write.
- An image whose source is not allowed appears as a text link, so a card never loads remote images.
- Long text splits into pages: the strip shows a counter such as Page 1 of 3, with First page, Previous page, Next page and Last page.
Save a card
While a card has unsaved edits, the bar at the bottom of the Training Hub offers Save; saving sends only the changes you made. Ctrl+S also saves, when the card has changes and nothing is processing.
- Nothing changed: a toast reads Nothing to save ("No changes compared to the last saved version.").
- The card is being prepared for search: the save is refused with Vectorization in progress ("Wait for the current vectorization to finish before saving.").
- The card's PDF is still converting: the save is refused with PDF conversion in progress ("Wait for the PDF conversion to finish before saving.").
- The save does not go through: an Error toast shows "Failed to save card".
After you save a Vectorized card, its text is prepared for search. The card header shows Vectorizing… with a percentage once progress is known, and just Vectorizing… until then. When the run finishes, a toast reads Vectorization complete ("{cardName}" was vectorized successfully.). If it fails, the card shows Vectorization failed, its tooltip says "Vectorization failed - save the card again to retry.", and the toast explains "The card could not be vectorized." Save the card again to retry.
Check for personal data
Saving a card that is not vectorized runs a personal-data check first; the bar shows Detecting PII… while it runs. Vectorized cards skip this check.
If the check stops the save, a Training card not saved toast explains why, and the dialog says "This card was not saved. Edit the highlighted parts to remove or mask them." Edit the text and save again.
Where the policy only warns, the toast can offer Save it anyway. That works only for users with the Bypass PII Detection permission, and only while the text is unchanged; after any edit the card is checked again.
You can also scan a card on demand: Check PII in the editor footer ("This training card, checked against the platform's PII detection policy."). It appears only while personal-data detection is switched on for your company; see PII detection.
Review earlier versions
The editor footer (its heading reads Commands) carries History and Copy, plus Check PII when it is available. History opens the card's saved versions:
- The left pane lists Versions with a count badge. Versions are numbered from the oldest (v1); each row shows who saved it and when. While the list loads it reads Loading history...; a card with nothing saved yet reads No query history yet.
- Click a version to read it. Query shows it as plain text; Compare sets it against your current text (Version v{n} against Current Query). Copy query copies the version.
- Replace (tooltip "Replace current query with this version") puts the version into the editor; save to keep it. Replace appears only when the card has saved versions.
- If the card has no saved revisions, the list shows a single Saved version entry: the text as last saved.
- Edits you make inside Compare are kept as a draft when you close the panel.
Questions, answered
Can I open more than one card at a time?
Yes. Every card you open gets its own tab, so you can switch between several cards while you work. Drag a tab to reorder it; if some tabs are tucked away, find them under Show more.
Why can't I save my card?
Three common reasons: nothing has changed (Nothing to save), the card is being prepared for search (Vectorization in progress), or its PDF is still converting (PDF conversion in progress). Wait for the run to finish, or change the text, then save again. A card another Mind shared into yours cannot be saved here at all; see Share and copy training cards.
My card was not saved because of personal data. What now?
Edit the highlighted parts to remove or mask them, then save again. Where the policy only warns and you hold Bypass PII Detection, the toast offers Save it anyway for the unchanged text; after an edit the card is checked again.
Can I check a card for personal data before saving?
Yes. Check PII in the editor footer scans the card's text on demand ("This training card, checked against the platform's PII detection policy."). It appears only while personal-data detection is switched on for your company. See PII detection.
Why is the Replace button missing in History?
Replace appears only when the card has saved versions. If the list shows a single Saved version entry, there is nothing older to restore; you are looking at the text as last saved.
Why does my long card show a page strip?
The text crossed the editor's page size, so it is split into pages. Use First page, Previous page, Next page and Last page to move through it. Saving keeps the whole text; pages are only a view.
What happens if I close a card tab with unsaved changes?
A dialog asks first: Close tab with unsaved changes? It says the edits will be discarded. Confirm with Close tab only if you do not need them, or keep working in the tab.
Why did an image in my card turn into a text link?
The editor does not load remote images. An image whose source is not allowed appears as a text link instead.
Is there a shortcut to save?
Yes: Ctrl+S. It saves when the card has changes and nothing is being processed; otherwise use Save in the bar at the bottom.
