Sign in with DataMind Platform

If you are an Administrator of your company on the DataMind Platform, you can sign in to your company's DataMind OS with your DataMind Platform account instead of a password. Everyone else keeps signing in with their email and password, or with single sign-on.

When the button appears

The sign-in page always shows the Email and Password form. Sign in with DataMind Platform appears under Log in, after or, only once you have typed a complete email address that belongs to an Administrator of the company that owns this DataMind OS server. For any other email, the button does not appear and nothing else changes.

The button stays hidden for an email that already has an account on this server that is not connected to DataMind Platform. Sign in with your password and connect DataMind Platform from your profile first.

  1. Open your company's DataMind OS address and type your email in the Email field.
  2. Wait a moment for Sign in with DataMind Platform to appear under Log in, then select it.
  3. DataMind Platform opens. Sign in there if you are not signed in already. It starts with the email you typed.
  4. Check the page. It names your company, this server, the product DataMind OS, the server's address and your account. Select Continue.
  5. DataMind OS opens, and you are signed in.

If two-factor authentication applies to your account on DataMind OS, it asks for your code after you return, exactly as after a password sign-in. Signing in on DataMind Platform does not replace it. See Enter your two-factor code.

Select Cancel on DataMind Platform to go back. The sign-in page then reads "Signing in with DataMind Platform was cancelled." If DataMind Platform says you cannot sign in to this server, it does not send you back: your account is not an Administrator of the company that owns the server, or the company or the server is no longer active there.

Your first sign-in

The first time you sign in with DataMind Platform, DataMind OS looks for an account connected to your DataMind Platform account.

An account that DataMind Platform sign-in created has no password. To also sign in with a password, or to use SQL tools that sign in with your email and password, set one in your profile with Set up password. See Your profile and preferences.

Connect DataMind Platform to your account

Connect your existing DataMind OS account once, from a session where you signed in with your password. Afterwards you can sign in with either.

  1. Sign in with your email and password.
  2. Open your profile: select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Profile.
  3. Select Connect DataMind Platform. DataMind Platform opens.
  4. Check the page, then select Continue.
  5. DataMind OS opens your profile again and shows "DataMind Platform connected".

Connect DataMind Platform appears for administrators of this server while DataMind Platform sign-in is available on it, and connecting works only for an Administrator of your company on the DataMind Platform. Connecting never changes your roles. A DataMind Platform account can be connected to one account on the server only; if it is already connected to another one, DataMind OS shows "That DataMind Platform account is already connected to another account on this server."

Disconnect DataMind Platform

  1. Open your profile and select Disconnect DataMind Platform.
  2. Read Disconnect DataMind Platform and select Disconnect.

Your account, roles and data stay as they are. You sign in with your password again, and you can connect DataMind Platform again later.

If your account has no password yet, the dialog reads "Your account has no password yet. Set up a password first, or you cannot sign in after disconnecting." and Disconnect stays unavailable. Select Set up password in your profile first.

You cannot connect or disconnect DataMind Platform while you are viewing DataMind OS as another user. See Impersonation.

When you stop being an Administrator

DataMind OS checks the list of your company's Administrators on DataMind Platform regularly. When you are no longer on it:

DataMind OS never deactivates its last active administrator this way, and signing in with DataMind Platform never gives back a role that an administrator of the server removed.

Administrators of the server can see and remove the connection on another user's page. See DataMind Platform connection.

Questions, answered

Why don't I see Sign in with DataMind Platform?

The button appears only for the email of an Administrator of the company that owns this server, and only after you finish typing it. It also stays hidden when your email already has an account here that is not connected yet, and when this server cannot use DataMind Platform sign-in. Sign in with your password.

Can I still sign in with my password?

Yes. The password form always stays. An account that DataMind Platform sign-in created has no password until you set one with Set up password in your profile.

Does signing in with DataMind Platform skip two-factor authentication?

No. DataMind OS asks for its own two-factor code after you return from DataMind Platform, exactly as after a password sign-in.

Which role does my new account get?

The built-in Admin role. An administrator of the server can change it later, and signing in with DataMind Platform never gives a removed role back.

Why wasn't my existing account connected automatically?

DataMind OS never connects an account because the email matches. Sign in with your password once, then select Connect DataMind Platform in your profile.

What does "DataMind Platform cannot be reached from this server" mean?

The server could not reach DataMind Platform, or DataMind Platform sign-in is not available on it right now. Sign in with your password. See Troubleshooting.

Why can't I disconnect DataMind Platform?

Your account has no password, so disconnecting would leave you no way to sign in. Select Set up password in your profile, then disconnect.

What happens to my account if I leave the company on DataMind Platform?

An account that DataMind Platform sign-in created is deactivated. An account you connected yourself keeps working with its password, without the connection.
