Use this page to sign in to DataMind OS, set your own password the first time, and sign out. It also explains the sign-in messages you may see and why DataMind OS signs you out.
The first administrator of a new installation signs in with the built-in administrator account. See First sign-in to DataMind OS.
There is no sign-up or forgot-password link. Your administrator creates accounts and resets passwords.
If sign-in fails, the card shakes and the message appears with a * marker. Troubleshooting lists the messages you can see and what to do about each one.
If your company uses single sign-on, the sign-in page also shows or and Sign in with SSO under the Log in button.
If your company allows only single sign-on, Log in shows "Password login is disabled on this instance, sign in with SSO". Use Sign in with SSO instead. Users with the built-in Admin role can still sign in with their password.
Your administrator creates your account and sets a first password. If your company has email set up, DataMind OS sends a welcome email with your email address, that first password and a link to sign in. At your first sign-in, you choose your own password.
If the confirmation field does not match your new password, the message reads "Passwords do not match".
The same page appears when an administrator resets your password, and when your password is older than the maximum age in your company's password policy.
If you come back to Reset your password later, for example with the browser's Back button, DataMind OS signs you out. Sign in again to restart the change.
Your company can change the password rules. The table shows the defaults. While you type, the rules appear as a checklist under the password field, and the strength bar fills as you satisfy them; it turns green when every rule is met.
| Setting | What it does | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum length | Your password must have at least this many characters. Shows as At least N characters. | 8 characters |
| Maximum length | Optional. When set, shows as At most N characters. | No maximum |
| Uppercase letter | Requires one uppercase letter. Shows as One uppercase letter. | On |
| Lowercase letter | Requires one lowercase letter. Shows as One lowercase letter. | On |
| Number | Requires one number. Shows as One number. | On |
| Special character | Requires one special character. Shows as One special character. | On |
Passwords can contain letters, numbers and standard keyboard symbols only. Accented letters and emoji are not accepted. If your password fails a rule, the message names the rule, in the checklist's order.
If two-factor authentication applies to your account, DataMind OS asks for a code after your password. The instruction reads "Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app."
If your account must use two-factor authentication and you have not set it up yet, sign-in starts the setup:
DataMind OS signs you in only after you leave the recovery-codes step, so save the codes before you continue.
Store your recovery codes somewhere only you can reach. They are your way back in if you lose access to your authenticator app.
If you sign in with your last recovery code, DataMind OS shows Recovery codes exhausted and offers Regenerate recovery codes. Regenerating asks for a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. To set up or manage two-factor authentication, see Two-factor authentication.
Each wrong password counts as a failed attempt. Your company's password policy sets how many attempts you get and how long the lock lasts. If the policy does not set them, the defaults are 5 attempts and 15 minutes.
Logout ends your session in this browser only; your sessions on other browsers and devices stay signed in. If you need to end those too, change your password; see Your profile and preferences.
The inactivity timeout is off unless your company turns it on. When it is on, DataMind OS signs you out after a period without activity.
To change your password later, see Your profile and preferences.
DataMind OS has no self-service reset. Ask an administrator to reset it. They need the Reset User Password permission. If your company has email set up, you receive an email with the new password, and you choose your own password when you sign in.
Account emails need an active Email channel. Ask your administrator to check Notifications, or to give you your first password another way.
One of three things applies. This is your first sign-in, an administrator reset your password, or your password is older than the maximum age in your company's password policy. Choose a new password on Reset your password to continue.
Check your email and password carefully. One more wrong try locks your account. If you are not sure of your password, ask an administrator to reset it. A reset also unlocks the account.
The lock time comes from your company's password policy. The default is 15 minutes. Wait until the lock time has passed, or ask an administrator to unlock your account or reset your password. Either one removes the lock at once. See Sign-in security.
Your company has an inactivity timeout. Reading without moving the mouse, typing, scrolling or touching the screen counts as inactive. Select Stay signed in when the warning appears.
Yes. Activity in any DataMind OS tab in the same browser resets the countdown in all open tabs.
No. Stay signed in and Dismiss both keep you signed in, and closing the dialog does too. Any activity, including the click on the dialog, resets the countdown.
Every role on your account is deactivated, so you cannot sign in. Ask an administrator to activate one of your roles or to give you another. See Roles and permissions.
Your company allows only single sign-on. Select Sign in with SSO and finish signing in with your company's identity provider.
Reset your password finishes only when you complete it in one go. If you come back to the page later, for example with the browser's Back button, DataMind OS signs you out so the change restarts from a fresh sign-in.
No. Email addresses are not case sensitive, and spaces around the address are ignored.
