The Platform tab appears in Admin on a self-managed DataMind OS installation. It shows the state of every service, applies DataMind OS and Installer updates, and reads the container logs of the installation.
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Services | Every service and its state, with restart and stop actions and the jobs they start. See Platform services. |
| Updates | The check for newer images, DataMind OS updates and the Installer's own update. See Update DataMind OS. |
| Logs | Reading, following and downloading container logs. See Read container logs. |
The Platform tab is not available on phones. A phone opens Minds instead.
The Platform entry appears when at least one of your roles grants a platform view permission. Each tab then opens only with its own:
| Tab | Opens with |
|---|---|
| Services | View Platform Services |
| Updates | Check For Platform Updates |
| Logs | View Container Logs or View Sensitive Container Logs |
| Permission | What it lets you do |
|---|---|
| View Platform Services | Open Services and see the state of every service. |
| Restart Platform Services | Restart a service. |
| Stop Platform Services | Stop a service. |
| Check For Platform Updates | Open Updates and see whether updates are available. |
| Execute Platform Update | Pull images, update DataMind OS and update the Installer. |
| View Container Logs | Read the logs of the application containers. |
| View Sensitive Container Logs | Read the logs of every container, including the data tier. Those logs can contain connection strings and query text. |
| Export Container Logs | Download logs. |
Reading and downloading are granted separately, and a download never covers more containers than your log permissions do.
Platform Administrator holds all of these permissions. Platform Viewer is read-only: service state, application logs and update availability, without stopping services, running updates or the data-tier logs. Assign permissions on a role, as described in Roles and permissions; the full list is in the permission reference.
If DataMind manages your installation, the page shows DataMind OS with the version this installation runs, and the line Services and updates are managed by DataMind. Services and Updates are then hidden, and only Logs remains.
If your installation does not include the platform controls at all, the Platform entry does not appear. A Platform address you open directly answers Updates are managed by DataMind instead of showing the tabs.
The tab depends on the platform's control plane. While a tab loads, the page draws the panel's outline; when the control plane cannot answer, a note takes the data's place and offers Retry.
| You see | What it means |
|---|---|
| No control plane behind the gateway | The control plane is not running here or was not deployed with this installation. |
| Control plane can't reach its backend | The control plane is running, but the part of it behind this view is not answering. |
| Control plane not reachable | The control plane did not answer at all. |
Click Retry once the problem is fixed. If it keeps failing, ask your administrator to check the installation. The messages and fixes are listed in Administration troubleshooting.
Either your installation does not include the platform controls, or none of your roles grants a platform view permission (see Who can open the Platform tabs above). Ask an administrator to check your role. On a phone, the tab is not available at all.
DataMind runs the services and updates for this installation, so Services and Updates are hidden and only Logs remains. The notice also shows the version this installation runs. You do not need to do anything here.
No. The Platform tab is not available on phones; a phone opens Minds instead. Use a computer for the platform pages.
View Platform Services opens Services, Check For Platform Updates opens Updates, and View Container Logs or View Sensitive Container Logs opens Logs. You see the tabs you may open, and no others.
The page needs the platform's control plane to answer. If it cannot, the tab keeps the panel's outline and shows No control plane behind the gateway, Control plane can't reach its backend or Control plane not reachable, with a Retry button. Retry after the problem is fixed; if it keeps failing, ask your administrator to check the installation.
In Admin > Platform. On an installation DataMind manages for you, the notice shows DataMind OS with the version and the date it was built. On a self-managed installation, the Updates tab lists the digest each service runs, so you can compare it with the published one (Update DataMind OS).
While the Installer is replaced, service controls and updates are paused, and a notice on the tab explains this; everything returns when the Installer is back. While any maintenance job runs, restart, stop and update actions wait for it to finish. See Update DataMind OS.
