In a chat, DataMind Oda can list, create, change, pause, resume and delete your scheduled tasks for you. This page covers the chat side: the cards each action shows, the approval before a save, and when a chat cannot change tasks. To fill in the task's fields, or to manage tasks on the Scheduled page, see Schedule recurring tasks; to follow what a run does, see Scheduled runs and history.
Ask in your own words, for example Schedule a report every weekday at 09:00. Oda prepares the task and either shows it for your approval or, in a chat that runs with Full access, saves it directly.
Every action appears in the chat as a card, so you can see what Oda did:
| Card | What happened |
|---|---|
| List scheduled tasks | Oda read your saved tasks. |
| Create scheduled task … | Oda created a new task. |
| Change scheduled task | Oda changed an existing task. |
| Pause scheduled task | Oda stopped a task's schedule. |
| Resume scheduled task | Oda started a task's schedule again. |
| Delete scheduled task … | Oda deleted a task. |
When Oda lists your tasks, it shows each task with its prompt shortened to 400 characters. With no tasks saved, the list reads The user has no scheduled tasks.
A save from a chat asks for your approval first, unless that chat runs with Full access. The approval repeats the task's settings, so what you accept is what gets saved:
Name: the task's name, and Schedule: its schedule, for example Schedule: every weekday (Monday to Friday) at 08:30, marked in this computer's time zone; a paused task is marked (paused).Preset: the task's mode, and Model: the preset's model unless you picked another.Access: Full access: the task runs unattended with your full rights or Workspace: the run folder only; anything that needs approval is denied.Skills: all skills, only the ones listed, or all except them.Folder: the task's own folder, or the folder you chose.Wake the computer to run: yes, while plugged in or no; for what waking needs, see Wake the computer to run.Notify on success: whether a finished run notifies you, and Time limit: how many hours a run may last, shown as Time limit: N hours; failed and stopped runs always notify.----- prompt ----- and the prompt the run will use.The approval's question names the action, for example Create the scheduled task "Daily report"?. Accept it and the task is saved; decline it and nothing changes: The user declined, so nothing was changed.
Delete the scheduled task "Daily report" with its run history and saved settings?. If you accept, the task is removed with its run history and saved settings, and a run that is going is stopped; the chats its runs created stay available. See Scheduled task files and versions.A chat changes tasks only when it can ask for your approval, or when it runs with Full access. In these situations Oda refuses instead:
Approval prompts are turned off in this session and it does not have Full access, so scheduled tasks cannot be changed from the chat. Ask the user to change them on the Scheduled page, or to switch the session to Full access or to a permission mode that asks for approval. Change the task on the Scheduled page, or continue in a chat that asks for approval or runs with Full access.Only the main conversation can create or change scheduled tasks; sub-agents and teammates cannot. Report the task you would schedule in your result instead. Make the request in the main chat.A scheduled run cannot create or change scheduled tasks. Mention the change in your summary so the user can make it on the Scheduled page. The run reports the change it would have made, and you make it yourself. This session does not have Full access, so it cannot save a scheduled task that runs with Full access. Use permission workspace-write, or ask the user to switch this session to Full access or to change the task on the Scheduled page.Every setting of the task, so you can check it before you accept. The approval lists the name, schedule, preset, model, access, skills, folder, wake, notify and time limit choices, and then the prompt itself. Accept to save; decline and nothing is saved.
Nothing is saved: Oda answers The user declined, so nothing was changed., and your tasks stay as they were. You can ask again with different settings at any time.
Because the chat runs with Full access, where approval prompts are turned off and Oda acts without asking. To review a save before it happens, switch the chat to another access mode; see Approvals.
Each card names an action Oda took: List scheduled tasks read your tasks, Create scheduled task … created a new one, Change scheduled task changed one, Pause scheduled task and Resume scheduled task stopped or restarted a schedule, and Delete scheduled task … deleted one.
No. Only your main chat, or the Scheduled page, can create or change tasks. A sub-agent or teammate is refused with Only the main conversation can create or change scheduled tasks; sub-agents and teammates cannot. Make the request in the main chat.
No. A run cannot create or change tasks; it reports the change it would have made (A scheduled run cannot create or change scheduled tasks.) so you can make it yourself from the Scheduled page or the main chat.
Only if that chat runs with Full access. With approval prompts off and no Full access, scheduled tasks cannot be changed from the chat at all; change the task on the Scheduled page instead.
Only when the chat itself runs with Full access: a task never gets more access than the chat that saved it, and Oda refuses otherwise (This session does not have Full access, so it cannot save a scheduled task that runs with Full access.). You can lower a Full access task's access from a chat that is not Full access.
Yes. Ask Oda to pause the task and its schedule stops; ask it to resume and the schedule starts again. A paused task keeps its settings and can still be run by hand with Run now.
Oda confirms first: Delete the scheduled task "Daily report" with its run history and saved settings?. If you accept, the task is removed with its run history and saved settings, and a run that is going is stopped. The chats its runs created stay available; see Scheduled task files and versions.
Oda shortens each task's prompt to 400 characters when it lists your tasks in a chat. Open the task to read the full prompt.
