Connectors

Settings > Connectors connects DataMind Oda to the apps you work with, so their tools are available in your chats. The Connectors tab holds the ready-made apps: the shipped catalogue includes ClickUp and GitHub. The MCP servers tab beside it is for servers you add yourself, covered in MCP servers. Sign-ins are stored encrypted on this computer.

Connect an app

  1. Open Settings > Connectors and find the app on the Connectors tab.
  2. Choose Connect on the app's card.
  3. Finish the sign-in in the way the app supports: in your browser, or with an access token. Each app offers the ways it supports, and your company's setup can narrow them.
  4. When the sign-in finishes, the app is connected and its tools are available in your chats.

Starting a connect for an app cancels any sign-in still running for that app, so the new attempt takes over.

Sign in through your browser

Connect starts the sign-in, and the app's sign-in page opens in your browser. Sign in there and allow access; the page then says where the sign-in stands.

Come back to DataMind Oda. It checks with the service on its own whether the sign-in has finished: each check waits up to about 20 seconds for an answer and repeats while the sign-in is still pending. That wait belongs to the check alone; the sign-in as a whole keeps its own, longer time limit, and if that limit runs out you see The sign-in timed out. Start it again. A check that finds a sign-in which has already stopped reports This sign-in is no longer running. Start it again.

Sign in with an access token

Some apps sign in with a personal access token instead of a browser page. The app asks for one: Paste an access token to connect <app>. Paste the token, and DataMind Oda checks it with the service before anything is saved; a token the service does not accept is never stored.

The check can answer with one of these:

Disconnect an app

Choose Disconnect on the app's card. Disconnecting removes the app's connection and its saved tokens from this computer; where the service supports it, the tokens are also revoked at the service. The app's tools leave your chats, and you can connect the app again later.

When an app cannot sign in

If you expect to use one of these apps, contact your DataMind OS administrator.

Questions, answered

What is the difference between a connector and an MCP server?

A connector is a ready-made app from the catalogue, such as ClickUp or GitHub, that you connect from its card. An MCP server is a connection you add yourself, with the server's address or a local command. Both give Oda tools it can use while it works in your chats; MCP servers covers adding your own, and Memory, skills and connectors covers the settings around them.

I finished signing in in my browser, but the app has not connected yet. What should I do?

Wait a moment. DataMind Oda checks with the service on its own; each check waits up to about 20 seconds for an answer and repeats while the sign-in is still pending. If a check finds a sign-in that has already stopped, it reports This sign-in is no longer running. Start it again. and you start again from the app's card.

Can I connect an app with an access token instead of the browser sign-in?

Only if the app supports it. Each card offers the ways that app supports, and some apps sign in only through the browser: a token attempt there answers <app> signs in through the browser, not with a token. Use the browser sign-in on the card instead.

I pasted a token and the app did not connect. Why?

One of three messages fits. Paste the whole access token, without spaces. means the paste was incomplete or held spaces. <app> did not accept this token. Check that it is complete and has not expired. means the service refused the token. Could not reach <app> to check the token. Check your network connection. means the service could not be reached for the check. DataMind Oda checks a token with the service before saving it, so a token the service does not accept is never stored.

What does disconnecting an app remove?

The app's connection and its saved tokens, both on this computer; where the service supports it, the tokens are also revoked at the service. The app's tools leave your chats, and you can connect the app again later.

The app I want is turned off or not available. What can I do?

Two messages cover it. This connector is turned off in Settings > MCP servers. means the app is switched off in your Oda setup, so it cannot sign in; some apps also offer their browser sign-in only once it is turned on for your company. This connector is not available in this app. means the app cannot be connected in the Oda app you are running. If you expect to use the app, contact your DataMind OS administrator.

Do I need a browser on this computer to connect an app?

For the browser sign-in, yes: the app's sign-in page opens in a browser on this computer. An app that signs in with an access token does not open a browser page.

What does an app give Oda once it is connected?

The app's tools, so Oda can use that service while it works in your chats. What such tools add, and how their results appear, is covered in MCP tools and resources for Oda.
