Memory, skills and connectors

Memory

Memories are short notes DataMind Oda keeps in mind in every chat, such as Keep answers short and use bullet points.

Memories are sent with every message and are recorded in the DataMind OS Observability log, so do not put passwords, account numbers or other personal data in a memory.

Skills

A skill describes how a task should be done: the steps, the sources and the format, for example how your weekly sales report is built. You write it once, and Oda follows it every time. Oda loads a skill on its own when a task matches the skill's description, and you can run one yourself by typing / and its name. Skills are in Settings > Skills.

Connect other tools (MCP servers)

MCP servers give Oda the tools of other services, for example your task tracker or code repository.

  1. Open Settings > MCP servers and click Add server.
  2. Enter a Name and the Server address, and any Headers the service needs. For a server that runs on your computer, use Local command (stdio) under Advanced.
  3. Click Test connection to check the server, then Save.
  4. If the service asks you to sign in, click Sign in and finish in your browser.

Connected servers show Connected; their tools are available in your chats. Addresses, headers and other values are stored encrypted.

Advanced features

Settings > Developer > Advanced features holds features that give Oda more power over your computer. They are off by default, and each asks you to accept its risks before it turns on for the first time.

Content Oda reads, such as a web page or an email, can carry hidden instructions. Turn these features on only when you need them, and watch what Oda does.
