DataMind Oda reaches your company's data through the Minds of your DataMind OS. It uses your own DataMind OS account, so it never sees more than you can. Builder Minds, such as the Warehouse and Lake builders, are not available in Oda. Your account needs the Use Minds from DataMind Oda permission.
You ask in your own words; Oda decides which of these to use:
| What you want | What Oda does |
|---|---|
| An answer to a business question | Asks the right Mind and gives you its answer, often with a chart or KPIs. If the Mind needs more detail, Oda asks you. |
| To see what data there is | Lists the Minds you can use, and the tables and columns a Mind reads. |
| To check the numbers | Runs a read-only query on a Mind's tables and shows a preview of the result in the chat. For all rows, ask for the full result as a file. |
| The full result as a file | Saves the complete result in the workspace as CSV or Excel, in the exports folder unless you name another. |
| Definitions and documents | Searches a Mind's documents and business definitions. |
Oda creates and edits Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in the workspace. Describe the result you want, including the layout. In the chat, it can also show numbers as a chart, a row of KPIs or a diagram.
The files Oda made appear as cards at the end of its answer: Preview in sidebar opens a file in the side panel, and Open in Excel, or the file's own app, opens it there.
To repeat the report regularly, turn it into a scheduled task.
No. Oda only reads company data. Queries are read-only.
Some kinds of Minds, such as the Warehouse and Lake builders, are not available in Oda. If Oda sees no Minds at all, ask your administrator for the Use Minds from DataMind Oda permission.
Most can. Some Minds do not allow exports, and Oda tells you when one of them does not.
Yes. Point it at the file with @ or name it, and say what to change.
