Settings > Developer > Advanced features holds the switches that give DataMind Oda more power over your computer. Every switch is off until you turn it on, and the first turn-on asks you to accept that feature's risks.
They sit beside the rest of Oda's settings; Memory, skills and connectors covers memory, skills and connections to other tools. A switch is separate from the chat's permission mode; Command sandboxing and approvals covers what commands may change in each mode.
Turn on {feature}? opens with the feature's risk text and the checkbox I understand these risks and take responsibility. When the feature starts, its row records the acceptance (Risks accepted by {by} on {date}). The acceptance is once per account: another account asks again. Turning a feature off never asks for confirmation, and your acceptance stays, so turning the feature back on later asks nothing.
The list follows where DataMind Oda runs: the desktop app offers more switches than the VS Code extension, and a feature that cannot run on your computer never turns on.
| Switch | What it gives Oda |
|---|---|
| Computer use | Oda sees your screen and moves the mouse, clicks and types in any app. Computer use covers the feature. |
| Browser use | Oda opens its own Chrome or Edge window and browses, clicks, fills in forms and reads pages, starting with a clean profile without your logins. The browser in Oda covers that browser. |
| Interactive HTML preview | HTML files open in the side panel with their scripts running, so interactive pages work. Preview images and HTML covers the preview. |
| Ralph autonomous loop | Oda can run a long unattended loop, starting a fresh agent round after round until the task reports itself done. |
| Terminal tab | A real terminal opens in the side panel. Commands typed there are not checked by the chat's permission mode. The terminal covers the tab. |
| Auto review permission mode | Before each tool call, a model reviews the action and blocks risky ones instead of asking you. Auto review covers the mode. |
| Plugins page | Oda shows the Plugins page, where you install and turn plugins on or off. Plugins and MCP connections covers plugins. |
| Windows work account sign-in | Microsoft sign-in pages in the side panel browser sign you in with the work account Windows is signed in with. |
Each row shows its feature's risk under Risk:, and the turn-on dialog repeats that risk before you accept it.
Three of these need something extra, and the row says so: Auto review permission mode needs a DataMind account with Full access (Needs a DataMind account with Full access.), Browser use needs Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge installed (Install Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to use this feature.), and Windows work account sign-in needs Windows (Needs Windows.). A feature that cannot run on your computer shows as Not available yet and never turns on.
Turning a switch on applies to new chats; a chat that is already running keeps the tools it started with.
Content Oda reads, such as a web page or an email, can carry hidden instructions. Turn these features on only when you need them, and watch what Oda does.
If a feature fails to start when you turn it on, or does not finish starting in time, DataMind Oda turns the switch back off. A message on the row reads The feature could not start, so it was turned back off. Meet the requirement the row names, then turn the switch on again; if it keeps failing, ask your administrator.
Your company can hold a switch on or off. A held switch cannot be changed on your computer, and its rule's reason shows beside it with the tag Managed by your organization. Rules are read when DataMind Oda starts, so a rule changed while Oda runs takes effect the next time it starts. Permissions, approvals and feature controls covers how those locks work.
No. A switch applies to new chats; a chat that is already running keeps the tools it started with.
No. Each switch is for Oda on this computer, not for a single chat; turning it on applies to new chats.
The list follows the app and the computer. The desktop app offers more switches than the VS Code extension, and a feature that needs something your computer does not have cannot be turned on there. Its row says what is missing, or marks it Not available yet.
No. When you turn a feature on, Oda starts it right away for new chats. Only a company rule waits for a restart, because rules are read when Oda starts.
The list refreshes when a window regains focus or reconnects. Bring the window to the front and the change appears.
The list shows Could not load the advanced features. with Retry. Choose Retry; if it keeps failing, ask your administrator. If a later refresh fails, the list that is already on screen stays.
While the change runs, the row reads Saving… and the other switches wait. When it finishes, the row shows the feature's new state. If something fails unexpectedly, Oda shows Could not change the setting.
