Settings > General describes itself in one line: How new chats start and how conversations look. The rest of this page shows how those settings are grouped and where you set the mode a new chat starts in. To open Settings and find your way around it, see Settings overview.
The General page sorts its settings into four cards:
A card is drawn only when it holds at least one setting, so not every card from this list has to appear. A setting that fits none of the four groups collects into one more card at the bottom of the page, drawn without a title.
New chats start in the mode you chose last, whether you set it here or in a chat. In a chat, the message box shows the current mode and lets you change it, and / does the same.

Yes. In a chat, the message box shows the current mode and switches it, and / does the same.
No. The Permission row sets the default for chats you start from now on. A chat that is already open keeps its own mode; change that one from its message box or with /.
The General page draws the rows the features in your app add: a card appears only when it holds at least one setting, and a feature the app does not include has no row to show. Some areas also have a page of their own instead of rows on this page, for example Keyboard shortcuts.
It collects the settings that do not belong to the four groups, New chats, Conversation, Text and Appearance, so it has no title of its own.
No. The name and email DataMind Oda shows for you are for local display only; they are never part of a model request.
