The Summary view shows one run as levels of groups instead of a graph of nodes: the semantic sources first, then their tables and source systems, then the individual transformations. Switch to it when a run has many steps and you want its shape and totals rather than every node. For the diagram window itself, see Workflow diagram.
The run selector at the top of the window stays in place; the view redraws for the run you choose. The same panel switches back to Flow and to Rearrange; the move tool is described in Rearrange transformations.
The view builds a root card, Warehouse Workflow, and four levels beside it. Each column starts with a header card: its level tag, from L0 to L4, and a count of the cards the column currently shows. The first column holds the single Warehouse Workflow card.
| Level | With Table → Source | With Source → Table |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Semantic Source | Semantic Source |
| 2 | Table | Source System |
| 3 | Source System | Table |
| 4 | Transformation | Transformation |
The last level holds the run's individual steps; the levels above group them. A group takes its name from its semantic source, table or source system. When the run's data does not provide one, the group reads Unknown.
The Start, Finish and Initialize steps are not summarised; the levels hold the work steps. See Nodes in a run.
A hidden level is crossed out, and the lines re-attach to the nearest level still shown; the remaining columns close the gap and the view fits itself again. Each level also has buttons that open or close it whole: their tooltips read Expand all Level 2 and Collapse all Level 2, and both refit the view.
The search box sits with the zoom controls at the bottom of the view. Its placeholder reads Navigate….
While a card is focused, the box reads ✦ focused. The highlight clears by itself after a few seconds, and clearing the box drops the focus. If nothing matches anywhere, the panel reads No nodes found matching "{searchText}". Search covers what the view currently shows: a hidden level, or a timeline set before a step started, keeps that step out of the results.
Group cards show:
Transformation cards show:
HH:mm-HH:mm, and an ETL tag with the step's ETL type; When a step has failed, see Monitor and fix a run.
A header filter or a highlight applies to these cards as well: matching cards stay bright, the rest fade, and a group with nothing left in it is not shown.
For the slider itself, see Workflow diagram. With a moment selected, the Summary view shows the run at that time:
Click the reset button, tooltip Reset to latest, to return to the run's end and see the final states.
The Summary view is read-only. The layout is computed from the levels, so cards cannot be moved or arranged. To tidy a graph by hand, switch to Flow. See Workflow diagram.
You picked a card from the search results, so that card stays marked while the view points at it. The mark clears by itself after a few seconds. To drop it at once, clear the search box.
The run's data for those steps has no semantic source, table or source system, so the group cannot take a name. Open a step's details to see what it belongs to.
The Start, Finish and Initialize control steps are not summarised. The levels hold the work steps. See Nodes in a run.
Search covers only what the Summary view shows now. A step is out of the results while its level is hidden, or while the timeline is set to a moment before it started. Show the level with its eye button, or move the timeline.
The step was clearly faster (↓N%) or slower (↑N%) than its average runtime. The chip appears only when the difference is clear: more than about 15% faster, or about 20% slower.
The timeline sits before the run's end and the group's steps are all done at that moment, so the view reads Paused instead of a final state. Move the timeline to the end, or click the reset button, tooltip Reset to latest.
Clicking a group opens and closes it. Right-click the group and choose Open Details to open the panel. A transformation opens its details on a click.
It is the time the step took in this run, followed by its average runtime. In the example, the step took 12 minutes and its average is 9 minutes.
Only levels 1 to 3 have a hide button. The Transformation column always stays.
No. It opens with the same permission as the rest of the diagram window. See Workflow permissions.
