The Theme Playground is the editor where a colour theme is built. This page lists every control on the editor screen: the header buttons, the name and base theme fields, and all 31 colour pickers with what each one colours. Creating, applying, publishing and deleting a theme are described in Branding and themes.
The screen title reads Create theme on a new theme and Edit theme on an existing one.
The top bar holds the title and, next to it, the Theme name field. The action buttons sit at the top right. Below the bar the screen splits in two:
The preview is a static mock and nothing in it can be clicked. It shows a header tile, status badges, a sample dialog and confirmation, a Lake table popup, a workflow jobs table, chart tiles and a SQL editor, so you can check how the palette reads across the product before you save.
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Restore original colors | Puts every swatch back to the colours the theme started from. It appears only after you change at least one colour. |
| Publish / Unpublish | Publishes the theme so other people can find it, or takes it back to private. It appears only while you edit an existing theme and your role allows publishing. Disabled while a save or a publish runs. |
| Delete | Opens the delete confirmation. It appears only while you edit an existing theme and your role allows removing it. Disabled while the delete runs. |
| Cancel | Closes the editor and discards the draft. |
| Save / Create & apply | Saves the theme and closes the editor on success. The button reads Create & apply on a new theme and Save on an existing one, and is disabled with a spinner while a save runs. |
The Theme name field sits next to the title; its placeholder reads Theme name. A theme cannot be saved without a name.
The Base theme section heads the left column. The picker's placeholder reads Base theme; open it to search. The search box reads Search themes..., and an empty result reads No themes found.
Each swatch is one picker. Open it to choose a colour, or type a value into the hex field under it. The swatches sit in six groups.

When a save succeeds, the editor closes and your theme becomes the one you are using. If a save cannot go through, the message says why:
Two behaviours are worth knowing:
Other messages from this area are listed in Administration troubleshooting.
Each swatch sets one colour of the palette. The tables above list all of them by group; a swatch affects every part of the interface that uses its colour, so one pick can show up in several places.
Twelve, Chart 1 to Chart 12. They colour data visualisations, avatars and pickers, and all twelve can be changed.
No. There is no separate picker for destructive actions; delete buttons and other destructive elements take the Error colour.
Yes. The Editor colors group holds seven swatches: Aliases, Types, Quotes, Number, Comment, Operator and Keywords. The preview panel includes a SQL sample so you can check them.
Base theme lists every palette you can start from: the built-in palettes, your own themes and themes other people published. Choosing one loads its colours into the swatches. Light and Dark choose which built-in DataMind OS palette the theme starts from.
The preview needs a wide screen: the editor shows it beside the controls when there is room, and hides it in a narrow window. Your colours apply the same way either way; you just do not see the preview while the window is small.
It puts every swatch back to the colours the theme started from. The button appears only after you change at least one colour.
A save is running; the button shows a spinner and comes back when the save finishes. Publish and Delete are disabled the same way while their own action runs.
Read the message: Name required means the name field is empty, Could not build palette means a colour pick is not valid, and any other failure shows Could not save with the reason under it. Fix what the message names and save again.
No. Until you save, your picks show only in the preview panel. When the save succeeds, the editor closes and the theme is applied to your interface. See Branding and themes for applying and switching themes.
