An organisation skill is a skill your administrators write once for the whole company. You choose which AI assistants list it: DataMind Oda, Minds and the other AI assistants in DataMind OS. Manage organisation skills on the Skills tab of AI Configuration. To learn how assistants use skills, see Skills a Mind can load.
See the Permission reference.
The list shows one kind of skill at a time. Switch with the tabs above it:
| Tab | What it lists | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Organization | Your company's organisation skills, with their Agents, Forced, Roles, Revision, Last test, Usage and Updated columns. | Create, edit, import, export, restore, delete and test. |
| Built-in | The skills that come with DataMind, with the assistants that use them. | Read and export. |
| Mind skills | The skills of every Mind in the company, with the Mind that owns each one, its author, its Last test and its Usage. | Read, export and promote to the organisation. |
Type in Search by name or title to narrow the list. Click a row to open the skill on the right. A skill marked Hidden has the same name as a built-in skill, so assistants never load it.
To start from a file, click Import instead of New skill, pick a SKILL.md file or a .zip with SKILL.md and references/*.md, and click Read file. The skill opens as a new draft. Nothing is saved until you review it and click Save.
| Under Agents | Who lists the skill |
|---|---|
| Oda | DataMind Oda. See Manage DataMind Oda. |
| Analytical Minds | Analytical Minds. |
| Warehouse Builder Minds | Warehouse Builder Minds. |
| Lake Builder Minds | Lake Builder Minds. |
| Model AI | Model AI. |
| Lake connector assistants | The connector agent in Connect Anything and the AI assistant for API recipes. |
| Slides AI | The AI panel in Slides. |
| Custom Visual AI | The AI that writes custom visuals. |
The buttons at the top of the skill:
If someone else saved the skill while you were editing, saving shows This skill changed. Click Reload the skill to load the newest revision and drop your edits, or Keep my edits to copy your text out first. Until you reload, the skill shows a note with the newer revision number, and saving asks again.
Two columns in the list tell you how a skill is doing:
When you open a Mind skill, a Tests block above its text shows the same: Last benchmark with the result, the revision and the age, or Not benchmarked yet., and the usage line. An organisation skill shows it on its Tests tab. View results opens the newest benchmark in a window. You can read it there, but not change it.
On a Mind skill, Open tests in and the Mind's name opens the skill's tests in the Skills tab of the Mind that owns it. It appears when you have View Mind Skills and can open that Mind. See Test a skill.
An organisation skill that is saved has a Tests tab next to Document and Settings. It shows the Tests block and the skill's tests from every Mind. Click a test to read its results.
To run a benchmark, you need Modify AI Skills and View Mind Skills, and you must manage the Mind the test runs in:
The test tasks of an organisation skill are shared by every Mind that tests it. Benchmarks run in the Mind you pick, with your access. Open tests is greyed out while the skill has unsaved changes: save or discard them first.
A skill that works well in one Mind can become an organisation skill for every assistant you choose. The Mind keeps its own copy.
The new organisation skill uses Managed delivery and is not limited to its /name command. Its Slash command setting follows the Mind skill.
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Organisation skills | 64 for the whole company |
| Name | Lowercase letters, digits and single hyphens, up to 64 characters |
| Title | 60 characters |
| Description and When to use | 1,024 characters each. Assistants see the first 500 characters of the description. |
| Skill text | 28,000 characters |
| References | 8 per skill, each up to 20,000 characters |
Some names cannot be used: the name of a built-in DataMind skill, such as star-schema; the names of the DataMind Oda built-in skills skill-authoring, office-docx, office-pptx, office-xlsx and datamind-badge; the Windows device names con, prn, aux, nul, com1 to com9 and lpt1 to lpt9; and any name that another skill of your company has, or had before it was removed. If a save is refused, the message says why. See Administration troubleshooting.
Assistants in DataMind OS use it from their next message. Oda checks for changes on its own and gets them within 10 minutes, without a restart.
No. The name is fixed, because Oda stores the skill under its name and people run it with /name. To use another name, create a new skill and delete the old one. The old name stays reserved.
A forced skill must use Managed delivery and cannot be limited to its /name command. Choose Managed under Delivery to Oda, or turn off Only with /name.
A built-in DataMind skill has the same name, and the built-in skill always wins, so assistants never load yours. Create a skill with another name.
Yes. On Settings, turn on Only for specific roles and pick the roles. If none of the picked roles is active any more, Roles shows Nobody in the list, and the skill reaches nobody.
Point at the button to read why. Either you wrote or edited this Mind skill, and another administrator with Modify AI Skills has to promote it, or the revision has no benchmark yet.
An assistant loaded the skill but called no tool after it in that chat. Many unused loads can mean that the description makes assistants load the skill for requests it does not cover. For a Mind skill, a trigger test or description tuning in the Mind that owns it shows which requests load it. See Test a skill.
Promotion needs a passing benchmark of the revision you promote. If no benchmark of that revision exists, Promote to organization is disabled. If no benchmark of that revision has completed, or the latest one did not pass, the promotion is refused and the window names the revision and the reason. Ask someone who manages the Mind to run a benchmark of that revision in its Skills tab. A benchmark passes when the tested revision passes at least 80% of its checks on average, no fewer than the version it is compared with, and every task has at least 2 graded runs for both versions. See Test a skill.
No. To change it, delete the skill and add it again with a new name, because a removed name stays reserved.
Click Export on the skill to download a .zip, then use Import on the Organization tab of the other DataMind OS and save the draft.
Nothing. The Mind keeps its own skill, and later edits in the Mind do not reach the organisation skill. To update the organisation skill, edit it here.
