Plan review

In plan mode, DataMind Oda presents its plan in a Plan review card and waits for your decision. This page covers the card, the plan in the side panel, and what you see after you decide; Plan mode covers the mode itself.

Decide a plan

The card shows the plan's title and a two-line summary, and it is answered like a question: Approve is the option that approves the plan, and every other choice declines it.

• Approve approves the plan and leaves plan mode: Oda carries the plan out from its next step, the card closes, the message box comes back, and the step's result records Plan approved.
• Request changes declines the plan. Nothing is approved: the message box returns so you can write what to change, and Oda stays in plan mode and waits for your message. The step's result records that the review was dismissed.
• View full plan, also named Open plan in sidebar, opens the complete plan in the side panel, in a Plan tab. Reading it decides nothing: the review stays open until you choose.

Oda waits while the review is open, and after you decide the plan stays in the chat; its card opens it again. Question cards and how answers work are covered in Answer Oda's questions.

Read the plan in the side panel

The plan opens as read-only Markdown in a Plan tab. A plan opens there by itself once, when it arrives; if you close the tab, it stays closed until you open it again from its card, and a plan from an earlier turn opens only when you choose it.

• While the plan is read, the tab shows Loading plan….
• If the plan cannot be read, the tab shows Could not load plan, or Plan preview is unavailable.
• A plan that is not in this chat's history reports This plan was not found.
• A plan that is still waiting for review has a temporary preview: it lives in the open tab, and after a reload the tab shows This temporary plan preview has expired. Reopen it from the pending review card.

While a plan waits

While the review waits, the chat's row in the sidebar shows Needs you instead of its time, and its card names Plan awaiting review; Chats and workspaces in the sidebar covers the row marks.

Questions, answered

Can I read the full plan before I decide?

Yes. View full plan opens the complete plan, and reading it decides nothing: the review stays open until you choose Approve or Request changes.

What does Request changes do?

It declines the plan: nothing is approved, and the message box returns so you can write what to change. Oda stays in plan mode and waits for your message.

What happens after I approve the plan?

The card closes, the step's result records Plan approved, and Oda carries the plan out from its next step. The plan stays in the chat, so you can open it again from its card.

Where does the plan open?

In the side panel, in a Plan tab, as read-only Markdown. A new plan opens there by itself once; after you close the tab, open the plan again from its card in the chat.

Why does the plan preview say it has expired?

A plan that is still waiting for your decision keeps its preview in the open tab only, so a reload loses it: the tab then shows This temporary plan preview has expired. Reopen it from the pending review card. Reopen the plan from the review card in the chat.

What do the plan tab messages mean?

Loading plan… means the plan is still being read. Could not load plan or Plan preview is unavailable means the plan could not be shown in the tab. This plan was not found means the plan is not in this chat's history.

Can I open a plan again later?

Yes. A decided plan stays in the chat, and its card opens the plan again in the side panel. A plan from an earlier turn opens only when you choose it.

If I close the plan tab, does it come back?

No. A plan opens by itself once, when it first arrives; after you close the tab, it stays closed until you open the plan again from its card.
