Press Alt+Q or use Open Popups in the sidebar to open the resource picker. The picker finds a table and opens it, or hands one or more tables back to the screen that opened it. This page covers the picker's Warehouse tables column; Open Popups covers the window as a whole.
The Warehouse tables column lists your Warehouse tables as rows, and it works the same wherever the picker appears.
table_2 comes before table_10.The toggle in the column header switches how the list is grouped:
Your choice is one shared preference: set Models here, and the picker opens on Models on every screen that uses it. It is remembered in this browser between visits.
In Models, the same table can appear more than once, because it is listed under every logical model it belongs to.
Type in the picker's search box to narrow the column. While a search is active, every group shows as open, so matches appear without expanding anything; clear the search, and the groups you opened yourself come back.
What a click does depends on the mode the screen opened the picker in:
Some screens limit how many tables you can select:
Click Sources or Models in the Warehouse tables column header. Sources is the default, and the picker opens on whichever you chose last.
Yes. The choice is one shared preference for every screen that opens the picker, and it is remembered in this browser. You only set it once.
The number of tables in that group.
Some of its tables are selected, but not all. The group checkbox has three states: unchecked when none of its tables are selected, checked when all are, and half-filled when only some are.
Every table in that group that is still unselected has reached the selection limit for the current screen, so there is nothing left to select.
The search opens every group for you, so matches are visible without expanding anything. When you clear the search, the groups you opened yourself come back.
Its type is not one of the known kinds (dictionary, dimension, fact, static table or view), so it groups under Unknown. It still opens like any other table, and its mark falls back to the Dimension icon.
Yes, in the standard Alt+Q picker. Clicking a table opens its editor over the page, and the picker closes.
While a screen is collecting your selection, a click selects rather than opens, so the open hint is hidden by design. Open the table from the Alt+Q picker instead.
Yes. Each grouping keeps its own open groups while you browse, so switching between Sources and Models leaves the other view as you set it.
A to Z by name, ignoring case, with numbers in natural order, so table_2 comes before table_10. In Sources, groups follow the Warehouse type order; in Models, logical models are A to Z, with Ungrouped Tables last.
So you can see exactly which tables the click selected.
